24.01.2022 Were loving our new cover photo by rawpixel! It says so much about the community we want to create here at Carers Circle. Inclusive, supportive, diverse. Were all here to help support each other as we help our parents (or others in the community) as they age. Shoutout to Pexels - Free High Quality Photos for housing such beautiful photography. #ageing #support #carerscircle

19.01.2022 Here at Carers Circle weve always believed in #equality and #fairness. Whether its older peoples rights, carers rights or equal rights for all, regardless of the colour of your skin. Thats why were taking time at this moment in history to further educate ourselves, break down some previous conceptions and move forward in an even more respectful way. We know theres a lot going on in the world right now, but it seems blacklivesmatter is the most pressing point for us to deal with as its long overdue. It doesnt mean were stopping our other work educating and advocating for the children of #ageingparents, because its our purpose and in the era of #covid19 even more vital. We just wanted to share this other important message with the world. Thats why were sharing this pic by scarecrowbar

19.01.2022 Cracking jokes, reflecting on their own deaths (and lives), these comedians have a great way of talking about death. Humour is said to be a good way to #discussdeath, but as I've learnt from my #Dying2Learn course, you need to pick your audience. 18.01.2022 Finally a #goodnews story about how an #agedcare facility successfully prevented an outbreak of #covid19. Its a positive example of what commonsense and good management can do to prevent the tragedy thats happening across the sector, impacting residents and families around the world. https://apple.news/AFci7s2frSLSrSPyq7obDSQ

17.01.2022 If you have a parent in an #agedcare facility, you'll want to read the new code for visiting residential aged care homes during #COVID-19. It was finalised yesterday. Main points: 1. Residents and their visitors can seek to arrange a visit (no unilateral shutdown across the board, although of course they can close if there's an outbreak) 2. Wishes and preferences of residents will be at the centre of all decision making 3. Liaise with the home to organise visiting (don't j...ust show up). Many will start using a booking system in order to manage the number of visitors 4. Be patient and kind - this is a trying time for all and the main concern should be the health and wellbeing of our parents 5. There's a complaints process if you're not happy and a review of the code is taking place in late May so make your voice heard https://bit.ly/3brcutf #Visitorcode #visitsafely COTA Australia - for older Australians, Carers Australia, Dementia Australia, Federation of Ethnic Communities' Councils of Australia - FECCA, National Seniors Australia, Older Persons Advocacy Network See more
