23.01.2022 Let's talk ticks and preventives. Tick paralysis or poisoning is a very serious and potentially fatal condition that requires urgent veterinary attention. It’s crucial for dog and cat owners to be able to identify the symptoms so they can seek emergency help for their pet. The best way of preventing paralysis is to avoid areas with ticks. Unfortunately that’s easier said than done. Early Signs... Dilated pupils Weakness in the back legs. Walking along then sitting down suddenly is common A change or loss of voice, for example the meow or bark becomes softer or changes pitch Vomiting, especially when it happens several times a day and froth is present Later Signs Wobbliness in the back legs Panting, progressing to loud breathing and even grunting noises Dogs may experience a moist cough and breathing signs (common in King Charles spaniels, schnauzers and other short nosed dogs Worsening Signs Animals become unable to stand Breathing becomes exaggerated and difficult Frequent gagging, grunting or coughing Gums become cold and blue-tinged as breathing gets difficult

They can walk you through any dental concerns you may have, perform a preliminary dental check, book your pet in for a full dental examination and procedure by one of our veterinarians where required, or develop a plan to help prevent dental disease. These FREE veterinary nurse dental checks are extremely valuable and... offered to you to help prevent more serious diseases such as kidney and heart problems that can occur in your pet if dental disease is left untreated.
