18.01.2022 Yesterday 35 youth from Meekatharra participated in a multisport carnival held by the Stephen Michael Foundation in conjunction with Carey Right Track Foundatio...n and Tom Gorman from Geraldton who lead some Rugby. All those who participated were put through a range of running drills and sprints, javelin activation with the crew from Carey Right track. They then completed a great session with Tom, concentrating on Tackle technique, passing and finishing with 2 touch rugby games. The SMF finished the evening with a range of basketball drills and games with the highlight being a staff v youth match with CEO Paul Mugambwa dunking to give the staff a 2 point win . A huge thank you Janine Binsiar, Andrew Binsiar from Youth Focus and Rob Binsiar from Mission Australia for rolling up their sleeves on the BBQ we really appreciate all your efforts A great night was held and we look forward to continuing our relationships and program delivery in Meekatharra as well as the greater Murchison region in 2021. 06.01.2022 Carey Baptist College x MDHS High School Camp On Monday morning a group of High school students, Miss Emilly and Miss Sally departed Meekatharra for the High Sc...hool Camp to Perth. On Tuesday they got to participate in some exciting events, discussions and tasks. Some of the activities include: sport class with year 8 netball class. The kids split up into pairs and joined a Carey team circus skills class with Mr Tim Bowles BHP tour of level 45 with lunch and view of the city. We talked about job opportunities and pathway into BHP with specific emphasis on indigenous traineeships/mentoring WAAPA classes discussion and tour of the facilities. We checked out the background area of the stage and looked into all of the areas of performance (costume, props, makeup, construction, design, film, fashion, Carey Right Track Foundation Celebration where we were the special guests. Here we met with people that are connected with the foundation. We also joined in on games and group photos with everyone that contributes to the foundation Tour of Karakatta Barracks. Discussion of career Pathways into the army and the opportunities for Indigenous people. They also spoke with us about support with education and accommodation. See more

01.01.2022 Carey Right Track Celebration. It was wonderful to celebrate last week with volunteers, supporters and partners the amazing programs that have been able to run despite the covid affected year. Banksia Athletics/Mentoring, Remote Athletics Programs and Carey Scholarships have all again been a massive success due to the sacrifice of all involved.
