25.01.2022 The steaks from the Angus steer we dropped off at the abattoir on Sunday wont be ready for a few weeks due to the hang time. They wont be quite as big as this one but theyll have more marbling and much more flavour. Give us a hoy if you want to impress at your next barbie

24.01.2022 Gday all, this weeks fruit and vegie box has both a butternut and jap pumpkin, so the box is closer to 13kg, still delivered for $25. What to do with all that pumpkin? Roast em, mash em, fry em, chuck em in a scone or impress your septic mates on Thanksgiving day with an authentic piece o punkin pie. Im in Orange this arvo (Sunday arvo) and wont be delivering next week as Im taking the weekend off to spend with friends and family. Incidentally, if youre around town next weekend, drop out to Cargo Village markets and try a bowl of lamb stew. Its really good. I know the guy..

24.01.2022 Gday All, this is Maria, one of last years black Angus calves. Shes out of Rita, a Gilmandyke cow and sired by Ferdy, a Glengowan bull. We kept her last year because she got a prickle in the eye and would have been discounted at the saleyards. As she was always destined for our freezer we decided not to treat her with antibiotics. The eye settled down pretty quickly to a small scar on the lens and bad eye or not, its done nothing to her appetite! Following a year of roamin...g the grassy Cargo plains she came back from the abattoir the other day with a carcase weight of 239kg. After hanging in a coolroom for close to a month shes available to pick up towards the end of next week. Were selling her in eighths for $20/kg. You dont get all mince and snags or all steaks. In your pack you will receive a couple of kilos of everything, including mince and snags, osso bucco, roasts and all the steaks as soft as butter. Let me know when ordering if youd like some bones as well - theyre not part of the pack but well throw them in free. The eighth will be over 20kg and under 25kg (you lose a bit in bone and fat as you cut it up). Your bounty requires a bit of fridge space, so you may wish to share with another family. It took me straight back to my mate Petes place and when his older brothers were home from boarding school with their mates and witty repartee. 16.01.2022 The carnival is over! Due to the dry conditions these lambs have been holidaying amongst some local organic vines for the last few months but they are now looking for their forever home. They dont eat or drink much and only require a bit of shelf space in your freezer. Whole and half lambs are available butchered and cryovac packed. To those of you lucky enough to have already secured a succulent adoption, deliveries will begin tomorrow. To those who havent, get in touch as theres only a few left. 0427 010 447

15.01.2022 We were lucky enough the other day to be asked to attend and supply a few lambs for the Windowrie Long Lunch. It was at the end of October and Im still smiling about it! A Greek themed affair pairing award-winning local food and wines for about 140 people. Good food, great service, terrific wine and outstanding company. Reckon Ill go there again...

04.01.2022 Its holiday time again when we get to see all those friends and family we see once in a blue moon. Lets not forget those who need us every day. Please wait for a clear stretch of road and dont overtake that annoying bloody caravan on a blind corner. Thats a dice no one wants you to roll. Better yet, if you are that bloody caravan, practice a random act of kindness and pull over when you can to let those 20 or 30 cars and trucks banked up behind you pass safely. There will still be plenty of cold beer or wine when you get to your destination and if there isnt, maybe its time to rethink your choice of friends! 01.01.2022 Come one, come all! Cargo markets this Saturday morning followed by the Cargo goldfields celebrations. Find us near the tennis courts and grab a bowl of texan chilli for lunch, a cold can of Pioneer and settle in for the festivities. It oughta be a cracker

01.01.2022 Gday all, the Long Weekend is here and theres heaps to see and do, not least of which is the Cargo Village Markets with around 50 stalls. They are on Monday from 10 til 3 so if you find yourself at a loose end come on down and grab yourself a gourmet lamb snag roll or 2 and wash them down with a damn fine local brew from Pioneer Brewing (cos were selling them too). Keep an eye out for us near the tennis courts.
