22.01.2022 Dogs die in hot cars. Most people who leave their pets unattended in a vehicle are unaware of the dangers, but temperatures inside a car can reach 75C in sum...mer. Leaving the windows down doesn’t stop a car reaching extreme temperatures. With summer just around the corner, it’s best to leave your dog at home with shade, shelter and fresh water. 20.01.2022 Pippa stole the hearts of everyone at our Carina clinic this week when she had a day stay for her desexing. She was so comfortable in recovery the main response she would give us would be regular tail wags while she kept her eyes closed!

20.01.2022 Ouch! check out these fractured canine teeth on this poor pussy cat. This is just one of the problems we can commonly find during our routine yearly checkups - this shows just how important these checks are!

16.01.2022 We hope everyone is having a good start to their weekend! We just saw this and thought it had some handy tips, so thought we'd share. Cats certainly do stress for vet visits, so anything we can do to help relieve this is worthwhile!

16.01.2022 Checkout Dr Laura's cats checking out these cat scratching posts! Cats love to have a high vantage point, so they tend to appreciate tall scratching posts for them to climb and explore, and it provides great enrichment for them! We'd love to see your cats using any form of enrichment- please post pictures below!

15.01.2022 Lovely 2 year old Mango came in today for her vaccination and yearly health check. It all went well, and she loved her lamb puff treats!

11.01.2022 That's it. Nothing has to be said for this photo. Adorable!

11.01.2022 Little Kylo is a friend of Dr Jacqui's dog so he was excited to see her today but still gets a bit nervous at the vets, especially with the consult table. He did so well having his examination on the floor with a cheese lickimat!

07.01.2022 Did you know that pet cats are much safer if kept inside only? This doesn't mean they can't experience the outside world. Fortunately nowadays there are so many options, including outdoor cat runs, jungle gyms and even training your kitty to wear a harness for a stroll outside!

05.01.2022 I found this article courtesy of the Deputy Director of CVE Sydney Uni' quite interesting! If you live in, or have spent any time near bushland recently, it’s likely you would have noted the cicadas seem particularly loud this year. You’re not imagining it; apparently 2020 is a peak year in the 7-year cicada cycle commonly observed in Australia. Bushwalking on the weekend the trees were covered in nymphal exoskeletons most empty, but others with adult cicadas in various sta...ges of emergence. I was captivated by how neatly folded their wings were and amazed that they could dry to become such magnificent, translucent flying apparatus. Various research papers enlightened me to the fact that cicada wings are hydrophobic, antimicrobial and self-cleaning the magnitude of these properties being species specific. Apparently, they have tympanal ears and their coordinated choruses are affected by the amount of light in the tree canopy and the proximity of other cicadas. And many species are yet to be identified, all over the world. To me, cicadas (along with koels, and willie wagtails chirping in the moonlight) are part of the symphony of summer. I still delight in surreptitiously attaching exoskeletons to someone’s t-shirt or hat. If that’s not your style, you could try the craft idea I saw online paint them silver and use them as Christmas tree decorations. 05.01.2022 Aww, poor Ted the Maine Coon may be a big boy, but even he was anxious coming in for his vaccination. It isn't every day that we get to meet these majestic cats!
