25.01.2022 Carine SHS entered four teams in the Yr 10 School Sport WA 3 v 3 Basketball Competition. 3 v 3 is a new format that will debut at the 2021 Olympics, eventually replacing the traditional version of the game. Tom Snelgrove, Jake Ashworth and Josh Anderson went through the day undefeated winning the All Schools A Division, with two of our other teams coming runner up in their respective divisions. It was a great day of basketball, with exemplary behaviour and sportsmanship demonstrated by our students. Well done to all of the boys on a fantastic result.



25.01.2022 Taylor Monaghan (Yr 10) swam very well in the recent 2020 State Age and Open Short Course Swimming Championships. Taylor competed in the Girls 15 years age group and her results were Gold - 200m Freestyle, Gold - 400m Freestyle, Gold - 800m Freestyle, Silver - 100m Freestyle. Congratulations Taylor!

24.01.2022 Thank you to Josie Janz-Dawson from the Wirrpanda Foundation for visiting our Yr 11 Children, Family and Community students today. These students (pictured) plus the Yr 12s helped raise funds during Naidoc Week through scrunchie making and sausage sizzle activities. The students each received a community service certificate, water bottle and lanyard. Great work!

24.01.2022 Our Year 11 Children, Family and Community students are caring for their virtual babies for two days and two nights this week. Baby Think it Over program is offered by Red Ginger Services with the main aim to help young people understand youth sexual health issues, focusing on the challenges of having a baby. Goodluck students!!!

22.01.2022 These are our talented Year 7 and 8 interschool water polo members who represented the school at the recent competition at HBF Stadium - Charlie Glyn, Max Walton, Wilhem Adcock, Luke Woodbridge, Jack Swingewood, Wayve Potter, Elliot Hannigan, Ben Davis, Blake Monaghan, Archer Somerville and Reece Cotterell. The boys finished 7th in their pool. Great effort!



22.01.2022 It was a magic day for the annual Athletics Carnival on 26 August. Student participation was the highest ever recorded and the community spirit was OUTSTANDING. This years theme was Out of the Book with some awesome costumes on display. A massive thanks to all our staff for their contribution. 21.01.2022 Congratulations to the Junior Girls Soccer Team. The girls played their last game against Emmanuel Christian Community School and won 4 to 1. Thank you to coach Lou Gishubl and also Glen Fraser for all his assistance at games. The goal scorers were Imogen Seebar, Taleeka Bakker, Anna Yates and Jenna Harnwell. It was a fabulous team effort.

21.01.2022 This immersive game experience delivered by Murdoch University allows students to test their knowledge of scientific notation, distribution law, indices and binomials to become a mathematics secret agent. Similar to an escape room, students need to tackle breakout boxes and complete a series of tests set by Secret Agent X to become a math super sleuth and join the Secret Maths Bureau. The box involves five challenging locks that they need to break into to solve the case.

14.01.2022 Well done to James Morgan (Yr 12) on being shortlisted for an award in the SCSA awards for outstanding achievement in VET in 2020. James has already completed a Certificate II in Information, Digital Media and Technology and a Certificate II in Outdoor Recreation. He will have completed a Diploma in Software Development by the end of this year and is considered exceptional in this field by his workplace supervisors. Next week they will be performing their class production ‘The Internet is Distract-OH LOOK A KITTEN!’. Shows start at 7pm on Thursday 26th and Friday 27th in the Carine SHS Performing Arts Centre.

12.01.2022 On November 19, Year 7 and 8 students competed in the Rotary 4-Way Test Semi-final. Students wrote and delivered a speech on a topic of their choice. Scarborough Rotary members, including Carine's Foundation Principal, Fred Marsh, adjudicated the competition. In Year 7, Claire Schomann, Dhruti Gokani, Lana Cleasby and Sacha Blackwell competed. In Year 8 we had Termeh Saber, Joshua Porteus, Logan Mihovilovich and Kaia Sharp. All the speeches were very impressive. The students showed a lot of passion for their topics and had fantastic confidence. A big congratulations to Dhruti, Sacha, Joshua and Logan for making it through to the final.

11.01.2022 Phil Britten gave a heart felt presentation to our Year 7 to 10 students during Mega-Life Week. Phil survived the 2002 Bali Bombing and incorporates his story around adolescent challenges and how to manage your mindset and beliefs.

11.01.2022 These amazing Year 10 students have made it through to the State Finals for the Microsoft AI for Good Challenge competing against six hundred other teams. Their idea 'KeepDreaming' is a baby monitor that aims to discover why babies are waking at night and take action to prevent it by changing the temperature of the room, playing soothing white noise or waking parents to alert if the baby is unwell. You should feel super proud boys!

11.01.2022 Our Year 11 Children, Family & Community students' final task was to make dolls to send to children in KwaZulu-Natal affected by the AIDS/HIV pandemic. The dolls help by supporting difficult conversations, promoting connection, encouraging play and providing a sense of comfort. What a wonderful idea!

07.01.2022 It was a splendid party to thank and farewell our nine extraordinary Year 12 Mentors who have volunteered many hours of their time to tutor other students. Sonja Rehbock (2019 Dux Graduate) also attended so we could thank her for tutoring our current Year 12s. Ms Parker also deserves a special mention for her time and effort organising the event. The in school mentoring program has been very successful this year - well done to all students!

07.01.2022 Well done to these students on their MTQ results. Students choose a topic to explore utilising mathematics. They are marked on their utilisation of the Mathematics Investigative Process and the difficulty of the mathematics used in relation to their year group. Well done to you all.

07.01.2022 Some of our year 7 G&T students participated in the inaugural Junior Science Olympiad, run by the Australian Science Innovations in Term 3. This quiz was for years 7-10 ranging on the whole lower school science curriculum. The following students received participation awards: Lana Cleasby, Aum Patni, Aidan Stead, George Rendalls, Jake D'Andrea, Liam Worth, Geneva Dunlop, Oliver Tucker, Amber Rea, Edward Wallenborn, William Li. Credit awards went to: Wayve Potter and Holly Lapping. Terrific results - well done.

04.01.2022 This term teachers have been rewarding students that display excellent attitude and effort in class with ABE House Points. As a student earns points they may be rewarded with merit certificates, canteen vouchers and invitations to special reward lunches. Congratulations to these students who are the Top ABE Point Earners so far during Term 3 - Josh Fouracres (Yr 8), Lana Cleasby (Yr 7), Tyler Bessen (Yr 9) and Olivia Meaney (Yr 9).

04.01.2022 Mr Murphy's Year 10 Core English class have turned another barren stretch of dirt into a succulent garden. All plants were grown on site from cuttings and will be added to over time from younger students.

The City of Stirling picks up our bins and sorts the deposited items and disposes of any contamination BUT this costs time and money!
