23.01.2022 Introducing Caringa's new Board Member Geraldine Gallagher! Get to know Geraldine a little better below: Why did you join the Caringa Australia Board? I joined the Caringa Australia Board to learn more about the Disability sector. In my professional life, I often deal with people with disabilities and would like to have a better understanding of how I can assist them. ... Also, Caringa has had a reputation as being a trusted organisation for many years in our local community and I am pleased to be able to contribute. What is your professional background? I completed a Bachelor of Arts with a major in Industrial Relations and Human Resource Management in 2005 and went on to work in a number of different HR roles primarily in the banking sector both in London and Sydney. I began studying law whilst continuing to work in Sydney. However, I decided to return to Grafton in 2016 when an opportunity came up to work for my father, a local solicitor. I completed a Bachelor of Laws in 2017 and have now taken over my father’s business. What do you enjoy doing in your spare time? I enjoy reading, getting outdoors, particularly going to the beach, travelling and spending time with family.

21.01.2022 Throwback Thursday! In 1968 Caringa undertook a number of fundraising events with a target of $15,000 to allow the construction of the Caringa Workshop. The most intriguing fundraiser held was where three local men, Mr Ray Fanning, Mr Reg Morris and Mr Don Rathborne, volunteered to be suspended 80 feet above the air in a caravan! ... The men showered the crowd underneath with lollies and novelties and stayed there as long as donations exceeded $100 per hour! It is worth noting the fundraising efforts in 1968 achieved $15,790.57 - an impressive effort!

"The South Australian dancer and director, won this year’s Frank Ford Memorial Young Achiever Award at the State’s premier Ruby Awards, which honour the best of South Australia’s arts and culture sector. Jianna receives NDIS supports to help her flourish in her professional career as a dancer, her plan includes funding to attend Restless Dance Company training where she rehearsed and has performed on international stages.
