17.01.2022 This is our little family behind #toobeehoney. We are sorry to announce that we have decided to not attend this Saturdays @lancefieldfarmersmkt as a stallholder. We wish to thank you for your understanding and please rest assured, the sun is still shining and the bees are still making honey. We are currently working on ways to safely get our local honey to you. We will all get through this together and please only #spreadkindness.

17.01.2022 HIVE INSPECTIONS We have been busy with our hives during this warmer weather. Hive inspections involve opening each hive up to check the health of the hive. We check on honey frames but most importantly the brood, the breeding centre of the hive in the bottom boxes. This tells us if the queen is fertile, happy and healthy and the hive is growing. I quickly snapped this photo of a drone (male bee) and nurse bees on a brood frame. The larvae can be seen, both capped ...and uncapped. They are capped by the nurse bees around day 9 and emerge as a little baby bee on day 21. We also check over the whole hive to make sure no signs of pests, parasites or disease. See more

14.01.2022 We are enjoying our garden with some bee spotting today!! A quick trip around the garden and these are the top 5, selected by our 8yo. You can never have too many bees photos!! With this warmer weather, our bees are out foraging and building up their hive numbers after their winter break.
