Last week’s thursday and friday photos were beautiful so we are excited to finish the rest of the children this week!

23.01.2022 We love seeing the drawing skills of our children develop over the year! Today we have been focusing on drawing insects for our wall display, and what a great job they have done!

23.01.2022 What an amazing turn out of food today! The children have absolutely loved having a special multicultural lunch (and donuts, pastries and fruit for morning tea, and chicken nuggets, pizza pockets and more fruit to come a bit later..theres just too much for now!!!). Thank you so much to everyone for participating - and giving the children an opportunity to try so many different foods they wouldnt usually eat!

22.01.2022 What a delicious multicultural lunch we had today! Thank you to all of our families for bringing in so many yummy things for us to try. The children have loved it! Looking forward to another great lunch on thursday!

22.01.2022 Our slackline is not only great for developing our balance, core strength and coordination, but also great for developing friendships! Our girls have had SO much fun laughing hysterically together as they all tried to do the same thing while on the slack line. This was such a great way for the girls to develop their negotiating skills as they compromised with each other to follow each others lead, as well as navigate the gross motor skills involved in all doing the same thing together. We have never heard so much laughter from these girls at one time and we love to see their beautiful smiling faces and the genuine joy they felt!

20.01.2022 Even though today was so rainy, we were lucky to have it brightened by one of our beautiful mums who came to show us her keyboard, and did some singing, dancing and games with us! Edies mum Corina helped us make our own maracas using plastic eggs and rice, matched letters to notes on the keyboard, and even played musical chairs and a special pom pom rainbow song. We had so much fun! Thank you so much for coming Corina!

19.01.2022 Check out our new slackline! We are so excited to provide another challenging activity for the children that helps improve their coordination, balance, core strength and confidence! They absolutely love it and we cant wait to see what they do with it!

18.01.2022 So much fun swapping our Ooshies this morning! What a great opportunity for the children to develop their social skills and sharing. Each of the children had a turn to choose an Ooshie they would like from someone else, and in return the person with the ooshie chosen would take one back from the first person. All of the children were so happy with their new ooshies and were such considerate friends to each other by working together to help everyone get the ooshies they wanted.

18.01.2022 This week we are extending the childrens numeracy skills by engaging in a new activity. With different components to the experience, it becomes appropriate for all the children to engage in no matter their understanding or prior knowledge. Our children have been encouraged to recognise the number on their board, write it in the box next to it, and then use the different materials to count out the same number of objects and place them on the corresponding lines. This also encourages the children to understand the size and shape of the materials so that they can appropriately fit them on the lines. What a great challenge for our children, they have absolutely loved it!

18.01.2022 In more exciting news, we are SO excited that Faith is starting back today after her maternity leave. Faith will be working in the Butterfly Room on wednesdays and fridays and is so excited to meet all of our new families and see all the kids from last year!

17.01.2022 This week during our group time for the older children in the room, we have been focusing on our listening skills. Carly has been playing a game with the children where they have to listen to the instructions she is giving on what to draw, and then draw it on their paper. After doing this for the second time today, Carly thought she would give the children a chance to create their own instructions for their friends to draw. Carly was so impressed with how well the children re...sponded to this, and how they were able to appropriately give their friends different shapes and objects to draw using such great positioning language. This included drawing a circle in the middle of the paper (Henry B), a triangle on top of the circle (John Henry), an octagon on top of the triangle (Harvey), a line underneath the circle (Tua) spikes around the edge of the circle (Beau), crab legs on the line (Henry O), dots in the middle of the circle (Hudson) and ending off with a smiley face in the middle of the circle (Harry G)! 14.01.2022 Happy Educators Day to the most wonderful, enthusiastic and deserving group of educators at Caringbah South Pre-school. This pre-school wouldnt be the same without you all, the contributions you make, the relationships you have built, and all the fun we have. I am so incredibly lucky to work with each of you and I love and appreciate all of you! A special thanks for surprising me with gifts- I thought I was surprising you all but you absolutely won this one!! A huge thank ...you to all of the parents for your beautiful notes to the educators, we have made them into a book and there were definitely a few tears shed when we read them. We have also been spoilt with pamper packs, coffee runs and cupcakes so a huge thank you to everyone! 14.01.2022 Today our Butterfly children were challenged to a marshmallow building task! Using marshmallows and toothpicks, the children worked in groups to create a structure! This proved to be quite a challenge but the children did such a great job working together to create the biggest structure they could and were very excited to eat their creations when they had finished

08.01.2022 We continued our bicarb and vinegar experiments to make a volcano in the sandpit! It was so exciting to have red lava ooze all over the sand and run down the volcano we had created. Once this had finished, Leza taught us a new game where we all had to pretend the ground was hot lava, and had to stay off the ground and on the play equipment so we wouldnt burn! This was so much fun and we all loved it!

As book week was postponed, next week we... are celebrating multicultural week! This is always a great week with lots of yummy lunch for the children - we cant wait! (dont worry about packing their normal lunch if you think your child will eat everything on offer - there is always sandwiches and simple things as well as new things to try!) 01.01.2022 This week is science week! Today both the Butterfly Room and the Caterpillar Room explores the reaction of bicarb and vinegar. We placed cups of coloured water or vinegar on the tray, and then added spoons of bicarb to the cups to see what would happen. The children were very excited to see the explosions that occurred when the bicarb hit the vinegar, and there was so much excitement when the bubbles poured over the top of the cups. Once everyone had a turn, the children in the Butterfly Room continued exploring their reactions using eye droppers to move the bicarb and vinegar around the tray, making lots of bubbles (and mess!). It was so much fun and a fantastic way to learn about chemistry!
