11.01.2022 If you are travelling to the Central West this weekend to enjoy the Bathurst V8 Supercar experience please plan ahead, allow extra journey time and stay safe. ...The Traffic & Highway Patrol Command want you to safely travel to the event at Mt Panorama, Bathurst enjoy the race event then get safely home again. With reduced spectators numbers due to COVID restrictions in 2020 , we are still expecting to see more people on the roads travelling to Bathurst as we approach the race weekend. You will see a significant increase in visible road policing activity, and you should anticipate that you will be subjected to random breath and drug testing, mobile and stationary speed enforcement, and high visibility patrolling. If you elect to undertake dangerous driving activities or drive whilst impaired by alcohol or drugs, you have the high likelihood of being stopped by police. On day one of the Police Operation yesterday it was great to see even with the increased number of drivers in the area that most did the right thing and there were only minimal detections of speed and other related offences. We hope to see this trend stay the same over the weekend. Stay safe, enjoy the weekend and leave the high speed driving to the professionals on Mt Panorama.
