Your vote helped CaringKids to win the $10,000 Westfield Local Hero Award grant that will provide Toy Boxes to special needs siblings and young carers, whilst saving pre-loved toys from landfill. 24.01.2022 We received a special message from a CaringKids Toy Box recipient family ... keep reading to discover the impact of our Toy Box delivery service for special needs sibling Louis, aged 7 and his family. Louis mum Mary writes, We would like to express our appreciation for the Toy Box our son Louis received. Louis was so thrilled and suprised to receive a CaringKids Toy Box. We kept it a secret from him until it arrived. He could not believe what he found inside, and he was ...so happy as it is his first time to receive the gift of LEGO toys. We would like other children to know Louis story so that he can be an inspiration to other children - especially children like him, who have a brother with disabilities. Louis, despite his love for play as a child, still finds time to help Mum and Dad to support his brother, and he is still able to manage his schooling and also his love for artwork and music. Louis is very proud and has embraced the disability of his brother very well, and for that we are very proud of him. We thank you again for giving Louis a chance to be proud of what he does and inspire him to continue what he is doing. We wish CaringKids all the best and believe the Toy Boxes are great way to support and reach out to children. 22.01.2022 TOMORROW'S SUTHERLAND MARKET POSTPONED My Kids Markets says ‘We wish to advise that we have made the very difficult decision and one we have never made in the history of My Kids Market to postpone tomorrow’s Sutherland Market due to the heavy rainfall predicted in Sydney over the weekend. Please know that the decision was made with our Stallholders and Shoppers best interests in mind as the unprecedented weather conditions and potential road hazards will make it very ...difficult for our regular shoppers to attend which in turn affects Stallholder outcomes. Not to mention how unpleasant unloading in the rain can be! The good news is we will be returning to Sutherland on Sunday 20 June!!! (this was the earliest date the venue was able to accommodate us due to their busy sporting schedule) We sincerely apologise for any disappointment or inconvenience this may cause but believe we have made the right decision for everyone. Carla Van Mal, State Manager (NSW) Little Dreamers Australia dropped in to visit us at our office Bayside BEC presenting us with these beautiful sunflowers Carla congratulated the CaringKids Team for recently winning the Westfield Eastgardens Local Hero Award in recognition of our work serving special needs siblings and young carers in the community. 21.01.2022 We are taking a little break over the school holidays and will be back on Wednesday 21 April. Thank you to all the toy workshop and work from home toy recyclers for all your work this Term . It was great to be able to work together again after the restrictions that were in place last year. 18.01.2022 Special guests Marion (left) and Norma (right) visited our toy workshop Westfield Eastgardens today. They delivered donations of brand new dolls, together with handmade clothing they both lovingly crafted for each doll. Each doll will be placed inside a CaringKids Toy Box and delivered to a child who provides care to a family member with a disability or illness.... 10.01.2022 How do our toy boxes come together? 1. We have collection bins in several locations where people drop off used toys 2. We collect these toys and put them in storage ... 3. Our volunteer network comes together to help sort through the toys, categorise them and put them in boxes 4. The boxes are complete and ready to send out to the kids! It takes a mighty effort and we couldn't do it without the support of our wider network! We are so proud of what CaringKids has achieved so far, and there's so much more that we are gearing up to do

They play an important role in caring for her and looking after her to give their mum some respite. They both received a CaringKids toybox earlier this year and you can see in the next images how happy they were when they got this surprise!... 04.01.2022 Hi, I'm Margaret Skagias, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of CaringKids charity. I grew up in South-West Sydney and from a young age I was surrounded by the impact of financial disadvantage and social inequality in my community. This experience led me to pursue a career in Social Work, and soon after further study in Public Health. I would continue on a path dedicating my professional and personal life to supporting vulnerable children and adults across many settings.... After spending several years working for charities including Carers NSW and Cancer Council NSW supporting children and families affected by disability and illness, I wanted to find a unique way to support children who provide care and support to their ill or disabled parent or sibling. This is how CaringKids began in 2014. It has evolved into an organisation that collects and recycles pre-loved toys, packages them into Toy Boxes and sends them out to these incredible kids so they can have the tools of childhood. My vision for CaringKids was always to honour the contribution of special needs siblings and young carers in Australia. They are often overlooked and forgotten. We work with partner charities such as Little Dreamers to give these kids the recognition and support they need, and most importantly, to put a smile on their face and acknowledge them. This is my WHY. I'm absolutely passionate and proud of the organisation we have created with our team of volunteers, and I want to continue to make a positive contribution to the lives of these children who give so much to others and are an inspiration. With a a diverse background in adult education and administration, Jo has experience in organisational, communication and administrative procedures, customer service, stakeholder liaison, and training and assessment. She holds a degree in Adult Education, Vocational Education and Training, and a Certificate IV in Business Administration. Jo has ...previously participated in other volunteer programs, including assisting with a charity Christmas Lunch and as a heritage buildings Site Guide.
