25.01.2022 High blood pressure, also known as hypertension, is one of the most common conditions affecting the circulatory system. In Australia, high blood pressure affects over one-third of Australians aged 18 years and over. Of these, more than two-thirds have their high blood pressure unmanaged or uncontrolled. High blood pressure can increase your risk of a range of heart conditions, such as heart attack and stroke. If you have been diagnosed with high blood pressure, it is essentia...l that your blood pressure is well managed, in order to reduce your risk of complications. This may include lifestyle changes, taking medications prescribed by your GP, and on-going monitoring of your blood pressure. What can our Caring Pharmacists offer? At Caring Pharmacy, our Caring Pharmacists are trained to provide high quality evidence-based advice to help you make life-long changes to your lifestyle, which should improve the management of your high blood pressure. We can work closely with your GP to assist the management of your high blood pressure. We offer blood pressure screening and monitoring services in all Caring pharmacies, so feel free to walk in, with no appointments needed, and we will measure your blood pressure for you!

20.01.2022 Update on hand sanitizers: We have put some aside for people who work during weekdays and were not able to come in. If you were not able to come on weekdays, please ask our staff on the weekends - we have kept some aside for you Dear beloved community, We are pleased to advise the alcohol hand sanitisers have arrived. ... But WAIT, please read this first... We are sure you would all agree that we need to work together as a community and support each other. As such, could we please kindly request that you: - Only get one bottle per person. Lets share resources and ensure everyone in our community is looked after. - Only get it if you need one. For the same reason as above. - Please sanitise your hands on your way in. We have a bottle of sanitiser for use at the entrance. - Please follow the yellow tape on the floor as a guide to maintain social distancing. - If you are unwell or if you have been asked to self isolate, please do not enter the pharmacy. We have elderly and the vulnerable populations who visit the pharmacy regularly so it is important we protect them. You can ring our pharmacy instead and let us know what you need. - In addition to alcohol hand sanitisers, it is recommended that you continue with regular hand washing with soap and water. If you need some soap or moisturizers, let our staff know. - The last ask, smile and stay positive. We know it can be challenging, but together we can do this. Special shout-out to our friends Kiran and Simon Parsons from SP Furniture for helping us with the deliveries! Remember, we are here and we WILL CONTINUE to be here to support the local community no matter how hard it gets. Stay strong. Your Caring Pharmacists

10.01.2022 Second day of lockdown - We hope you are all keeping well and staying safe. Over the last couple of days, we feel so proud that West Australians have stepped up once again and adapted efficiently to our WA Government’s advice. Just a gentle reminder that masks are only effective if and when worn and handled correctly. In response to our community’s request, Meng has kindly agreed to be our model to demonstrate proper wear of a face mask. ... 1 Clean your hands with soap and water, or you could use either alcohol or hydrogen peroxide-based hand sanitizers if access to soap and water is not available. 2 Position the mask over your nose and mouth. Pay attention to the design of your mask. The coloured side (usually blue, green or orange) is water repellent and should face out as it repels others’ droplets. The white side is water absorbent and should be worn facing in. The metal strip should be positioned across your nose bridge. 3 Hook the white straps over both ears to hold the mask in place. 4 Pinch the metal strip to fit the shape of your nose as shown in the image below. 5 Pull down the lower part of the mask over your chin. 6 Check that the mask is tightly fitted covering your nose and mouth completely. To remove the mask after wearing, carefully unhook the straps but pay attention not to touch the coloured side of the mask and carefully dispose them. Any questions, please feel free to contact us. Stay safe and fingers crossed the situation will improve swiftly. Take care, Your team at Caring Pharmacy East Fremantle

02.01.2022 A gentle reminder to our beloved community, You would have heard us nagging about the following every time when you come in, but we thought another reminder wouldnt hurt anyone! Five Simple Steps To Help Our Health System:... 1. Wash your hands. Hand hygiene remains the most effective way to prevent infection. We encourage everyone to wash your hands regularly with soap and water, and sanitize with alcohol-based hand sanitizers, when handwashing is impractical. 2. Stay at home. Stay at home unless you need to go out for essential purposes such as grocery shopping, visit to your pharmacists or doctors. When you are out, maintain social distancing! 3. Get your flu shot. Yes, get your influenza vaccination now. Your pharmacists will be able to advise if you would be suitable for the vaccine. Although the influenza vaccine does not protect you against Covid-19, it is very effective to protect you against the deadly influenza. Whilst we have spent the last two months concentrating on the Coronavirus, lets not forget about influenza! This is the least we can all do to avoid preventable hospitalization and reserve the precious hospital beds to others in need. 4. Encourage others to get their flu shots. Yes, you have just had your influenza vaccine, so spread the good move! Ask everyone you know, encourage everyone you know, to get their influenza vaccinations too. 5. Wash your hands, yes, AGAIN. Because, it is that important. Your Caring Pharmacists
