19.01.2022 We are super excited to announce that the best little show with the biggest heart, Walcha Show, will go ahead on 12 and 13 March 2021! The Walcha Show Committee...’s decision to plan for next year’s Show has been given 'the green light' by the NSW Government’s recent support. Walcha Show President, Martin Oppenheimer, says the Walcha Community should start planning to be part of the 2021 show. Be an exhibitor, a competitor, maybe become a member or just come and enjoy the Show. Everyone will be welcome. The Government announcement last week that if ‘COVID safe measures are in place to allow up to 5000 people at any given time to attend shows’ is great news for Walcha. Safety measures will include social distancing at venues, controlled access at entry points throughout the show to minimise crowding, a limit to the number of attendees depending on venue size and the one person per 4 square metre rule. Our committee will use the Service NSW COVID Safe QR codes to enable safe management of crowd numbers and enable contact tracing. For most events at the show, few will notice the difference from a normal show. We have to be COVID Safe. The Showground Trust have continued to improve facilities this year. The horse stables have been renovated and look amazing. The Main Pavilion has a new roof and stylishly renovated amenities which is welcome. The Sheep Pavilion has a new concrete floor and has more usable space. 15.01.2022 Bare root trees start arriving this week !!! For best results have your ground/holes prepared befor picking up from the nursery Fertilizing - do not add fertilizer directly to the planting hole, as it may burn the new roots as they grow. Best results are usually produced using a complete fertiliser applied to the top of the root zone early in the growing season. In the first year after planting it is also important to get the watering correct and this is often more important then fertilizing.
