Right now we need to focus on staying healthy both physically and mentally, whether that means d...oing a workout or having a rest day, eating clean foods or snacking on cheese and crackers - its ok! Aim to do some form of exercise a couple of times a week, get in a couple healthy meals a day and dont stress about the rest. We are all learning to adapt to these massive changes so dont expect to have it all figured out straight away. Take it one day at a time and keep going

05.01.2022 "Dont wait until you are breaking to have a break" I saw this quote the other day and it couldnt be more true. I am the first to admit I dont follow this as much as I should and will push through rather than let my body rest. There is ALWAYS going to be something to be done but we need to remember to prioritise tasks and that includes REST. In preparation for our upcoming 12wk Challenge we took ourselves to our favourite place Straddie for a couple of nights to recharge before kicking off this Saturday. Our health is so important and if we are constantly running on empty, somethings got to give. Sometimes all you need is a bit of extra sleep, a day without housework, taking time out to do something you enjoy - the smallest change can make the biggest difference. Look after your body and it will give you your best days yet

05.01.2022 Over the weekend 3 of us girls went away to the Sunshine Coast for some lessons to learn how to surf Both of the girls are currently taking part in our 9 Week Challenge so instead of going out for your typical fish & chips, burgers, etc we did our groceries and cooked fresh (and delicious!) meals together. We were up early each morning for our surf lessons and spent the days doing lots of walking, swimming, exploring and of course relaxing in the sauna Dont think being on a challenge or tidying up your food means you cant be social and enjoy yourself - you just have to make smart choices!! Find like-minded friends and try something new, create tasty meals together, its about making a lifestyle for yourself where you feel your absolute best

03.01.2022 Never underestimate the benefits of a good stretch No matter what your daily lifestyle habits are whether it's being in a desk job or labour intense, long commutes for work or spending too much time on the couch, then add training on top of that, your muscles will begin to tighten up which over time if not released can cause pain and lead to injuries TAKE THE TIME TO STRETCH... The most common things I hear are I don't have time or it will loosen up on it's own (and no they won't ). Schedule in a good stretching session the same as you would a workout and be sure to hold each stretch for at least 20-30seconds. If you are someone who is time poor spend 5-10 minutes at the end of your workouts or even at night while you're watching TV - it will all make a huge difference!! If you are unsure what stretches to do feel free come and chat to me after your session or even during Open Gym times. Plus we also have our amazing Alicia @ozfitpt who takes us through a monthly one hour Soul Stretching class so keep an eye out for those

01.01.2022 Something we all struggle with is actually listening to our body and giving it the proper rest it needs to recover I am definitely guilty of this Backing off your training intensity or having just a couple of rest days from exercise often isn't enough. Think about what you do in your daily routine Most of us are still running around crazy doing the very opposite of rest even though we are "resting" by not exercising. Exhaustion has so many negative effects on our ...bodies and although with our busy lifestyles it is easier said than done to "get some rest", but it's more important to look after your overall health rather than letting all those negative effects keep stacking up until you are forced to stop everything. Be kind to yourself, give yourself time to recover. A little rest here and there will go a long way
