25.01.2022 If you receive regular support during a crisis, chances are you will not only get through it, but you’ll end up helping others who are struggling, too. Shirley from the Philippines used to struggle to feed her young family, and faced discrimination for being an indigenous woman. After accessing a program supported by people like you, she was able to turn things around. She trained as a tribal healthcare worker, and now can not only feed her family, but also helps extremely vu...lnerable indigenous communities to reduce the spread of COVID-19. Regular donations can be life-changing for those experiencing poverty and injustice. Find out more today: https://caritasaust.caritas.org.au/regular-giving

25.01.2022 Across the Pacific, churches have been working together to communicate faith-based messages about COVID-19. With the support of the Australian Humanitarian Partnership (AHP), #CANDO partners are communicating #COVID-19 information to #Pacific communities, including via culturally relevant and biblically based radio messages and posters that address and promote #COVID-19 preparedness. See more https://bddy.me/2Gvb2ML Church networks can play an important role in communicating... disaster preparedness and response messages. They are also able to address mis-information and fear, by delivering information through trusted sources, including church bodies and faith leaders. Caritas Australia, as part of the Church Agencies Network Disaster Operations (CAN-DO), has been supporting the development of this faith-based messaging led by UnitingWorld, as part of CAN DOs COVID-19 response in the Pacific.

23.01.2022 Phuong is 9-years old and lives with hydrocephalus, a condition that causes seizures and makes speaking and walking difficult. Thanks to our community of big-hearted supporters, our program in Vietnam is helping Phoung to read and write, and providing him with rehabilitation care. His parents have also learned how to better care for him, and participated in livelihood skills training to boost the family income. Your continued support can help ensure that children like Phuong can create futures filled with hope and joy. Donate this Christmas: https://bddy.me/3mpFYxP

21.01.2022 Lulu Mitshabu, our Africa Program Coordinator, has been working for Caritas Australia for 20 years this year mostly in the Democratic Republic of Congo where she grew up. During this time, the DRC has experienced years of conflict, the displacement of around five million people, along with deadly outbreaks of measles, Ebola virus and COVID-19. Now, there are fears that the first famine of the coronavirus era could soon hit, with millions of lives at risk. ... Unless we do something fairly radical quickly, addressing this, we’re going to see the result in the next six months, and people are going to be really in a very bad position, Lulu says.
