They had some help from the Year 9 students to make their own beeswax wraps. Beeswax wraps are a reusable, washable and sustainable alternative to single-use plastic and cling wrap. The wraps are made with cotton, organic beeswax and jojoba oil and can last up to 12 months and can be used to cover almost anything clingwrap can cover.

20.01.2022 RESEARCH PROJECT >> "During the holidays I was invited to visit Adelaide Zoo for the day by one of their animal behaviourists. I got into contact with them through my Research Project as I am looking at what factors affect the natural behaviours of animals, and was required to conduct an interview for my folio. I arrived there in the morning and was shown around out the back and where some food is prepared. I then got the chance to watch one of the public animal encounters,... before being taken out the back to see the preparation and training required beforehand. I watched the free flight and then was able to learn more about how the birds are trained to return to the keepers, and fly out on certain cues. Myself and one of the keepers then did an interview in which I was able to learn more about the differences in animal behaviour in the wild compared to in captivity as well as the role in zoos’ for conserving endangered wildlife. Overall it was a very educational day and I am very thankful for the keepers for inviting me there." (Meg) See more
