For many of us, Christmas is a time of joy to celebrate with friends and family, indulging in food and drink and being spoilt with gifts.... Sadly, for vulnerable children all over Australia, Christmas can be a terribly sad time and a stark reminder of their lesser fortunes. Many of our kids are orphans, in foster care or their parent/parents are in jail or deceased or have lost custody . These children are victims of abuse, poverty, crime, drugs, mental health and neglect. Here at @placebulimba we are helping make a difference, teaming up with @lighthousecare and @braveheartsprotectkids we have targeted the area of Logan, Woodridge and The Redlands with the mission to give disadvantaged children a Merry Christmas. The kids are required to write a Wishlist to Santa, nominating ‘something they want, something they need, something to wear and something to read’. And one of our generous Santa’s Little Helpers will shop for the list. How can you help? Register for a WISH LIST (Example attached) By emailing [email protected] You will then be emailed a child’s wish list in the coming days. Then it’s time to head to the shops over the next few weeks to fulfil the wish list as best you can. (note a few items on some lists can be very costly so I just ask that you use your discretion and replace it with something else age appropriate and less costly. We would like to stick to $200 maximum. (but please feel free to grab a few friends, your family or colleagues to share the cost) 1) Shop for your gifts. 2) Individually wrap each gift. 3) Add all gifts to a large Christmas Bag (Available from the Cheap/$2 shops) 4) Add a note from SANTA. EG ( Dear......., Merry Christmas to you and your family, I hope you enjoy your gifts. With Love from Santa. Xx) 5) Attach a copy of the wish list to the bag so we can match the child to the correct bag of gifts.
