25.01.2022 I interrupt the COVID-19 pandemic to bring you what just happened to me at Coles... I went to Coles to buy a bag of food for our dogs because we were nearly out. I'm in line for self checkout, a woman behind me asked me if I had any dogs... I stare at her (those who know me will imagine my 'look') why would I be buying dog food... right? So on impulse I told her no, that I didn’t have any dogs, that I was starting the dog food diet again, and that I probably shouldn't because I ended up in the hospital the last time, but 15 kilos less! I told her that it was the perfect diet and that all you had to do is carry the kibbles in a bag and eat one or two every time you feel hungry (I have to mention that practically everyone in line was interested in my story). Shocked, the woman asks me if I ended up in the hospital because the dog food had poisoned me. I answered...of course not! I was admitted because I bent down to smell the ass of another dog and I was hit by a car!! I thought the man behind her was going to have a heart attack...he was laughing so hard! I have to confess... this is of course was made up to make you smile because we all need to continue to laugh...... It's your turn to copy/paste it and make someone else laugh. We need to laugh more! Have a GREAT DAY!! Sending you and your loved ones all the best of good health in these challenging times Xx

Type 2 Diabetes represents 90% of all cases of diabetes, and can be prevented or delayed in more than half of these cases through making healthy li...festyle choices: Regular physical activity Maintaining a healthy weight Making healthy food choices Managing blood pressure Managing cholesterol levels Not smoking. It doesn’t matter how far you walk or run, it’s about being involved, getting active and moving together on this critical national project. Fast facts: Diabetes is recognised as the world’s fastest growing chronic condition. One in 11 adults has diabetes (415 million) 12 per cent of global health expenditure is spent on diabetes (USD$673 billion) Every six seconds a person dies from diabetes (5.0 million deaths)

09.01.2022 To all the people of North Rocks and their friends and relatives in the wider community Re Christmas raffle at North Rocks Shopping Centre 2020 Dear Everyone,... What a year we have had. Dorothea Mackellar certainly got it right, a land of drought ,rains and fire . She did not of course have any idea of Covid 19. The people of North Rocks do now but it did not stop them from supporting our Christmas fund raiser to assist the local RFS and scout troop . Due to your generosity we raised $3200 which will be shared equally be-tween them . None of this could have been possible without the magnificent prize donations received from the local and community organisations . The North Rocks Shopping Centre management have also been very generous in affording us the space to operate for the period of the event . We look forward to seeing the back of the pandemic this coming year and meeting you all again next Christmas when we hope to do it all over again . Sincerely Yours, Henry Jones Coordinator

03.01.2022 Have you ever wondered what the Lion's organisation does? Here is one of the many things we do. One of the five core pillars of Lions Clubs International is Diabetes. For many years, Lions Clubs across Australia have committed to investing in research for the prevention and treatment of Diabetes, and we are thrilled to have an opportunity to contribute to this outstanding service through our provision of Assistance Dogs. Along with our Hearing Assistance Dogs, Medical Alert D...ogs will be providing life-changing support to many Australians in need. The dogs will initially be trained to alert to low blood sugar levels in asymptomatic Type 1 Diabetes, but also provide much-needed companionship and security. A Medical Alert Dog will alert their Diabetic owner when there is a drop in their blood sugar levels, to avoid a hypoglycemic episode, which can be fatal. Most commonly, a hypoglycemic attack can happen at night, when a Diabetic is not regularly checking their blood sugar levels. Below is a picture of Corey who is in training to become a medical alert dog.
