25.01.2022 Looks like the iPhone X saga will finally come to an end if all goes well tomorrow. After Optus royally fucked up my order and as well as a lot of miscommunication with both their online and call centre team. I spent a total of 1 hour, 37 minutes and 16 seconds of my precious time stuck on hold to their call centre team only to be put on hold and passed to two people and to speak to each one of them for approximately less than 5 min each. Only to be told the same fucken thing... twice which was so frustrating and irritating! Next time I upgrade my plan I might as well not do an online pre-order and walk into any Optus store the day the new phone gets released, because according to the Optus staff I spoke with all iPhone X stock was given to all the stores first and nothing was allocated to the online pre-orders. So whats the fucken point of doing a pre-order if you aint going to get the stock first.

All though I didnt win, Im pretty proud of my efforts and looking forward to entering again for FIPP 2019!

24.01.2022 Well heading down to Moores Contemporary Gallery tonight for the showcase awards night for this years Frematle International Portrait Prize. 22.01.2022 I just got back from Melbourne and had the opportunity to attend the Leica SL master class with Mark Strachan and Nick Rains. I had some proper hands on time using the Leica SL both out in the field and in the studio (which is the very first using a Leica camera for me). It was great to hear both Mark and Nick talk about their photography as well as sharing their knowledge with me and the rest of the crew. This is one of my favourite images, I captured of Isabelle our beautif...ul model for the day. I used the Leica SL with the Summilux 1.4 50mm using nothing but the ambient light from the modelling lamp of the studio strobe! A massive thank you to the Leica Australia team and Camera Electronic for inviting to come along I had a fantastic experience! 19.01.2022 So this year, I will be making a commitment to learning Italian using Duolingo! My goal is to practice 5 to 10min every day until I reach my goal and hopefully I can maintain the daily streak that I have started!
18.01.2022 I guess, I missed the memo on this B&W challenge that has been doing the rounds on facebook! So I nominate myself and here is my B&W portrait of the stunning Isabella. I always love a good B&W portrait, there is a timeless beauty and simplicity to it that you dont always get with a colour portrait. I hope you guys love this portrait of Isabella as much as I do! 16.01.2022 I get to meet some interesting people during my photowalks and I meet this gentleman a few months back he was curious to know what was going on when he saw a large group of people taking photos. I explained I was hosting a photowalk and that the group was exploring the city and doing some street photography. I politely asked if he would allow me to take a portrait in him and he accepted he gave me about 30seconds a I took a few frames and this one was my favourite.
16.01.2022 Just doing some more house keeping for 2018! And one of things on my list is to close down the MeetUp I started a few years back. There are a several reason as to why Im doing this but it doesnt mean I wont be hosting any more events in 2018 and in the future. I just want to streamline everything so things are more efficient and can reach a wider audience. A massive thank you to all the members of the group and looking forward to seeing you all at future events! Ciao Carlos
15.01.2022 Canal Rocks down at Yallingup became one of my favourite places during my short trip down south last week. I hope you guys love this panorama as much as I do. I know it doesnt do it justice but its the next best thing to been there! Carlos Arevalo Photography 2017 www.carlosarevalo.com for bookings and enquires contact us on [email protected]
15.01.2022 Connor became an unexpected model for me at the Leica SL masterclass workshop in Melbourne and this is my favourite portrait of him from our short portrait session. The lighting is with a large octa using nothing but the modelling lamp and using the amazing Leica Noctilux-M 50mm 0.95 wide open. I was pretty proud with my efforts shooting at 0.95 and manually focusing in such a low light environment! 15.01.2022 I was going through some of photos from this year and I came across some of the photos from the Madman Anime Festival. It brought some cool memories of the awesome people I met, as well as the struggles I had with shooting with a Canon camera for the first time, been a Nikon guy it took me a while to get my head around it. Since that experience I have been shooting with more Canon cameras and I feel a bit more at home using them than when I first did!
12.01.2022 Looking forward to getting my new updated business cards. I have made a few small tweaks and this time around, Im going for a much higher quality paper stock. Cant wait to see the final result!
11.01.2022 Wishing every one a happy Valentines Day!
10.01.2022 Back in 2013 I had the amazing opportunity to photograph my very first overseas wedding in Thailand for Oui & Joe. I fell in love with Thailand from the moment I got there and I meet some wonderful people during my stay there. And I miss the food the delicious street food!!!!! So I was pretty excited to hear from Oui & Joe this week to let me know that they are planning a trip back to Thailand in 2018 and asked if I would be interested in coming along. ... My answer was an immediate YES!!!!! So Im all ready thinking about and planning what camera gear to take and the places I want to visit as well as list of all the food I want to try out. 2018 cant come fast enough!
09.01.2022 Well the last photowalk of the year has been and gone and all I can say it was a great way to end the year! We had such a fantastic turn out and once again I couldnt have planned it better as Northbridge was alive with activity in the lead up to the Pride Parade which made for some fantastic photo opportunities. Thank you all for your support through out the year the photowalks wouldnt be as successful with out your ongoing support. And Im always happy to see new people come along as well as the regulars. And incase you are wondering when the next photowalk will be, I have all ready planned out the next two photowalks for January and April 2018 so make sure you book early so you dont miss out! Once again thank you to every that came down on the day and I hope you all had fun and got some amazing images!
09.01.2022 Ok maybe its just me but the all new Adobe Photoshop Lightroom CC feels like a beta version of a mobile app for tablets or smart phones. As far as I can see and understand if you migrate your current Lightroom Classic CC catalogs to the new cloud version thinks like snapshots, custom metadata, Creations: books, slideshows, and print/web creations, Shares on Lightroom for the web, Map-saved locations, Folders and folder hierarchy and Smart collections. Are NOT available! I m...ean, like really WTF Adobe????????!!!! Im a bit confused who this product is really for and this whole push to cloud based software and storage is starting to really piss me off more and more some companies are doing it right while others are doing it all wrong! I really dont want to have to pay $28.59 a month to have a privilege of 1TB of storage plus the right to use Lightroom CC, Lightroom Classic and Photoshop CC on an ongoing monthly basis. On rough count I have close to 12TB of photos why would I waste my time uploading that much data to Adobes cloud and pay them to host it for me. When I can get a NAS, Drobo or another large format hard drive to store my images on. Anyway Im sure for some people it might work but not liking where Adobe is heading with Lightroom. I guess time will tell what happens but if they keep this shit up I might have to look for other alternatives.
08.01.2022 Thanks to Camera Electronic, Dave Walters and myself will be taking part in helping out Project Street when it comes to Perth this Friday 11th January. Project Street is the creation of Craig Wetjen and Steve Scalone who wanted to create a fun and challenging day that starts with photographing the streets of Perth, editing and printing the images to then have them displayed within an amazing exhibition space... All in the one day! Dave and I will be assisting and helping out ...Craig & Steve as well as the 30 other photographers that are taking part on the day. It will be a long day but looking foward to it! PS - Make sure you show your support by coming down to exhibition and auction at the North Metropolotian TAFE Gallery, 12 Aberdeen Street Northbridge

07.01.2022 It was a very nice surprise to come across this video interview with Shigeru Miyamoto today! Not many of you may know this, but I pretty much grew up with Nintendo, my first console was the NES and Super Mario Bros was the very first video game I ever played. Getting to meet Shigeru with my all my brothers would be very high on my bucket list. After playing Nintendo video games for over 30 years Im very grateful to have been able to play all the amazing games that Shigeru has created so many cool memories and hopefully much more to come in the future!
07.01.2022 I have been doing a massive clean up of my old Aperture libraries and very slowly importing them into Lightroom (which is a very time consuming progress if you must know). And I must admit it has been a wonderful experience going back through my old work and seeing it with a new set of eyes, as well as new editing skills which I didnt have back in those days. This is one image that I missed back then but it finally gets to see the light if the day!
06.01.2022 The last week has been pretty good. My first printing workshop down Busselton was a huge success and a massive thank you to Mark and Marion for arranging it all and for been my tour guides and hosts during my stay. I placed a preorder for the all new iPhone X so I should be hopefully getting it in my hot little hands early next week and I managed to score a copy of the all new Mario Odyssey game for the switch which I have been putting some serious time into the last few da...ys the game is awesome! Got to attend the launch of Matt Morans new cook book called Australian Food Coast & Country down at Petition Kitchen. I got to meet the man himself and get a personal copy of the book signed. While I enjoyed some fantastic food and wine. So overall it has been a fantastic week!
06.01.2022 One of my favourite portraits from my portrait session with Josh. Carlos Arevalo Photography 2018 www.carlosarevalo.com for portrait bookings and enquiries contact us on [email protected]
05.01.2022 I have to be honest and say that I have never really been a massive Drake fan but I do like some of his songs and Gods Plan reminds me a lot of 2pacs To Live and Die in LA from back in the day. So Im really feeling this song right now, its the kinda song 2pac would have done if he was still alive!
03.01.2022 One of my favourite portraits of Nardia taken using nothing but natural light and one of my favourite lenses in my kit the Nikon 50mm 1.4!
03.01.2022 Had an awesome time at Camera Electronics first Instameet with the Perth Mermaids!

02.01.2022 I had a fantastic day yesterday exploring some of the surroundings areas down in Busselton, but my two highlights were getting to see Sugar Loaf Rock and Canal rocks. A massive thank you to Mark and Marion for taking the time to show me around the area.
02.01.2022 I found this by accident the other day and this has to be the smoothest shit I have ever heard in a while totally in love!
01.01.2022 I love the simplicity that comes with shooting with natural light. This portrait of Alexandra was taken at my old studio space which I miss very much! Especially that big massive window that allowed so much beautiful natural light to come into the studio space!
