22.01.2022 "The Coronavirus pandemic has shown remote working is not only possible, but often beneficial for both employers and employees. It means a job no longer has to ...involve sacrificing lifestyle for location". A great segment on ABC News on the lifestyle benefits of living in regional Victoria and working remotely. All Cape's homes have NBN right to the front door so residents can easily work remotely if they need to!

21.01.2022 Good morning neighbours (birds & roos)

20.01.2022 Writing an update for the team this morning and identifying the positives out of our ever changing world...

20.01.2022 Beautiful blocks ready are go (our lads are into Thunderbirds at the mo) at Broadbeach! https://www.carltalbot.com.au/broadbeach/

19.01.2022 The team at @ecovoice have put together a nice piece on The Cape which explains how the "liveability and resilience" features of the estate are proving to be ve...ry valuable in the current challenging environment. The benefits, especially during times of coronavirus isolation, of energy efficient super comfortable homes, modular water efficient urban farming, ditching expensive petrol bills through long range electric cars and socially positive, active urban design are delivering great benefits to Cape residents. We hope you enjoy the short read http://www.ecovoice.com.au/the-cape-sustainable-estate-shi/

19.01.2022 Check out some beautiful aerial photos of Stage 3 of The Cape, showing the overall site, walking paths, wetlands and coast in the background. These were kindly ...provided by Leo Edwards from Inverloch 3996 - these type of home sites this close to the coast are really rare today. Check out the new playground that has been built at the Cape that will be open for Easter. Stage 3 is selling rapidly with some beautiful lots with coastal views still on offer so feel free to visit the sales centre at Periwinkle Place Cape Paterson on Thursday to Sunday between the hours of 12 noon and 4 PM #coastalliving #surfinglife See more

18.01.2022 Plant it and they will come! We are very happy with the way that our wetlands and habitat areas at the Cape have sprung into life this Summer, and the local wil...dlife is set to benefit. Check out these photos of the wetlands powering up and some of the beautiful animals we share our home with at the Cape, many taken by our very talented resident photographer David Hartney. We are working with the habitat restoration experts from Australian Ecosystems who have collected a large and diverse seed bank from around our area and have grown over 100,000 plants representing over 60 species so far for our site at their nursery in South East Melbourne. We ask that any visitors to our Land for Wildlife site keep their dogs on a leash when outside of our offleash dog park, because we are keen to see our wildlife continue to build and thrive into the future! Have a happy weekend and see you at the Cape soon #urbanhabitat #ecologicalrestoration See more

15.01.2022 What is seen structural? Using timber not only for its superior structural benefits but also for its immense beauty. With the help of MASSLAM (our... mass-timber column and beams), you can replace finite materials like concrete and steel with warm and uplifting Australian timber. Gone are the days of covering up structural members with plasterboard! Find out more about the benefits of MASSLAM at vicash.com.au/glulam-hardwood-beams. 15.01.2022 Great to be part of The Cape. Seastar, along with other sustainable homes, is featured again in this article. https://www.domain.com.au//the-cape-ecodevelopment-should/

12.01.2022 The lucky country... Well at least I feel we are lucky to live in the country by the coast. My partner Carl and our boys are home at our small farm and I'm wr...iting this while listening to waves from our display home at The Cape Eco Village. Less than 2 hours from Melbourne we have everything we need and want where we live: - beautiful clean air - space to be (not in a crowded city where we can't escape whatever is going around) - soil to grow food (fruit, vegetables, herbs, chickens/eggs & livestock) and ability to source other food locally - room to grow for our boys and our business (Carl Talbot Builders) - clean water in our tanks, rivers and oceans - we have spacious cafes, restaurants served by small business owners with friendly faces who know our names - our towns are full of talented creatives - our foundations are strong, built on farming families that established and continue to be the backbone of our communities - we care for each other Technology has enabled many to be able to work remotely that a few decades ago could not have considered it. I call it the modern cottage industry... We are currently working together for a cause, the cause has brought us together and our focus clear. While there is and will be pain and challenges in the world at present there is also opportunity. Opportunity to do things differently to rethink how we do what we have done and make changes through adapting that will have long term benefits. As a wider society... We will use online technology to do more of what we do online rather than travelling for meetings, work and education. We will free up more of our time, reduce our environmental impact and reduce unnecessary spending of both public and private money. Educational institutions will be able to focus on content and not require the same amount of physical infrastructure. Business will look for ways to retain staff while parents could be off work due to school closures so we will develop efficiencies and work life balance. Staff will actively look for ways they can help the businesses they work for to ensure their financial viability to provide them a job. Families will have more time together. We will, as a whole, become more resourceful and get back to basics (use staples such as rice & rolled oats,, make and grow food). We will reduce our environmental footprint through reducing processed packaged foods & imported stuff / products (from large overseas factories whose countries then struggle with the pollution caused by servicing our consumerism). With travel we may take the time to savour the journeys and not just the destinations by finding other ways even if they take longer. We will develop cleaner and healthier habits ... oh and did I let you know (city folk esp) how good the country and coast is...? #flattenthecurve #lovegippsland #sustainability #everyfamilyneedsafarmer

01.01.2022 Clean air & sea - how lucky are we! #move tothecountry #flattenthecurve

01.01.2022 We love our team of A Class Carpenters, subbies (Electricians, Painters, Plumbers, Cabinet Makers, Tilers, Cleaners, Transport, Concrete-tors, Earth Movers etc) and suppliers that contribute to us building awesome homes for the best clients across Southern Gippsland and assisting others (outside our construction area) getting their projects ground ready elsewhere. We all love what we do - we create beautiful, comfortable, quality homes to live in and while doing this it prov...ides livelihood for many local families. Last week we shared with our team the Master Builders guidelines in relation to Covid-19 for safe work practice. Today we have ramped it up a notch via new checks and balances communicated through a toolbox meeting and email to ensure we are all doing our bit to continue to provide for our clients and all those that are affiliated with our business. You can check out what we have implemented today via our induction page. (Happy for other builders to use this info if it is useful for you &/or if you have some ideas to share to improve further we are always open). https://www.carltalbot.com.au//online-induction-prior-to-/ We are all in this together.
