24.01.2022 Well, it’s a sad day yo. We’re closing up shop coz the chief health officer is our super tight homie and we respect them, large. With the help of us all staying at home, and our medical professionals being the gurus they are, we’ll be throwing the gates back open in a few weeks. 21.01.2022 Amongst other good news at last night’s AGM, we elected Amy Lampard as our president. A wonderful contributor to our club over many years, Amy has been a steady hand in these tumultuous times. As a little side note, Amy’s taking on of the role sees her become the club’s first female president in our club’s 31 year history! Yew!! Kawweeeennn!!! 10.01.2022 Brian Terence Falconer OAM. The members of the Carlton Gardens Tennis Club have been deeply saddened by the loss of Brian, our long-time member and former President. After battling illness in recent months, our club is in mourning after Brian’s passing over the weekend. ... The extraordinary social and welcoming ethos of the Club, remarked on by many visitors, was largely due to his influence. We send our heartfelt condolences to his wife (our fellow member and former Secretary) Pauline and to the Falconer family. @tennisvic

05.01.2022 Gee whiz 2020. You’re proving quite the challenge. We interrupt your normal broadcasting to bring you a message from our committee. Dear all CGTC fans, In light of COVID-19 and threat it poses to our community, we are undertaking the following measures and initiatives. In agreeing on these measures the committee have attempted to strike a balance between the crucial role social interaction plays in our lives and mental well-being, particularly at a time like this, and the re...sponsibility we have to the broader community to do what we can to limit the virus' spread. We ask that you and your guests take up these measures, not only for your own well-being, but for that of your fellow community members. The responsibility is all of ours. 1. Clubhouse usage: - Only to be entered in to for usage of the toilets. The weather forecast for the coming week looks clear and mild. Please do all socialising outside of the clubhouse in the BBQ and patio areas either side. In doing so, keep in mind the Department of Health recommendation of a 1.5m gap between people being optimal for limiting spread. - Paul and his team will need access to the computer, only them and committee members with administration rights to booking sheets are permitted to touch the computer. - No usage of the kitchen for food preparation. No food or drink more generally. Bring your own water bottles, filled at home. - Please wash hands thoroughly for 20 seconds with soap after every usage of the sink. 2. Tennis: - No shaking hands at the completion of matches. Pick your favourite culture's non-touchy gesture and go with that! - Bring your own water bottles, filled up from home - No sharing or swapping of racquets Our organised sessions have all been notified of these measures, as well as others specific to each night. We ask that you make this your responsibility to uphold. It is all our responsibilities to act in the interests of others at this point in time. Stay safe and look after each other.
