25.01.2022 Cake Day in Preschool One. Today at Carlton House we are celebrating Cake Day. Preschool One children enjoyed making cupcakes today with Mel. Discussing each of the ingredients we are using and talking about what things we can do with it. E.g. milk we can use them on our breakfast, in cakes and someone even mentioned milk in the coffee. We counted out the patty papers that we needed for the trays. We all had a turn at pouring the ingredients in and mixing them together. ... We can’t wait to eat it at afternoon tea. See more



24.01.2022 Preschool 2 Room Today at Carlton house we had a fun dress-up day, where we came to school in blue, it was great to see the sea of blue around the rooms. The children loved to show off the dress-ups they had picked to wear and how mum or and dad had helped them get ready for the day. The children were overheard talking about the different colours and shades of blues. We also painted our hands to make a sign for the room using our hand paints.... 1.1.6 openly express their feeling and ideas in interactions with others. 1.1.7-respond to ideas and suggestions from others. 2.1.2 cooperate with others and negotiate roles and relationships in play episodes and group experiences. 2.1.3 take action to assist other children to participate in social groups. 3.1.5increasingly co-operate and work in collaboration with others. 3.1.7recognise their individual achievements.

24.01.2022 Toddler 1 Room This week in the Toddler One room we enjoyed the next warm weather by going out in small groups to look at and water our veggie plants that we planted a few weeks back, the children love helping to water all our wonderful plants and veggies. 24.01.2022 Toddler 1 Room Today the Toddler One children enjoyed having a Chocolate milkshake with their afternoon tea that was made by our chef Phil. The photos show how much fun they had drinking their milk. National Chocolate Milkshake Day on September 12th brings chocolate and ice cream lovers together. Forget the calories for just this one day and enjoy a sweet tall, thick and delicious, chocolate milkshake!... The term milkshake first appeared in print in 1885. During this period, milkshake referred to an alcoholic beverage described as a sturdy, healthful eggnog type of drink blended with eggs, whiskey, and other ingredients. Pharmacies served the drink as a tonic and a treat to customers. By 1900, pharmacies offered this wholesome drink with either chocolate, strawberry or vanilla syrup.

23.01.2022 Snapshot around Preschool One 23rd to 27th November. This week has been book week. We have enjoyed dressing up in our outfits and reading the books that some of us have brought in with to match our outfits. Thursday we made cupcakes. This week we have been finishing off our art for the year and getting our Christmas gifts finished for next week.

World Children's Day was first established in 1954 as Universal Children's Day and is celebrated on 20 November each year to promote international togetherness, awareness among children worldwide, and improving children's welfare. A time to celebrate and a time to demand action for child rights.... In celebration of the day, the children decorated little girl and boy cutouts individually. 21.01.2022 R U OK? Preschool two R U OK? is a national charity inspiring and empowering everyone to meaningfully connect with people around them and support anyone struggling with life. Looking out for one another and lending support is a key life skill for any age group. This toolbox has been designed to encourage students to look out for their classmates by asking R U OK? Activities have been linked to the Australian Curriculum, General Capabilities and the Health and Physical Education Curriculums across Australian States and Territories. And to co-inside with child protection week we have been talking to the child that it is ok to speak up if someone does something that makes you feel uncomfortable and it is ok to ask for help when you feel sad

21.01.2022 Toddler 2 Room This week the Toddler Two Children have been tending to their worm farm each morning. The children are collecting the scraps from their morning tea and sorting what foods we can and cannot feed to our worms. Once the scraps are organised we make our way out to our courtyard and prepare the worms for feeding. The children ensure that the soil is not to dry and that the newspaper that covers our worms is also damp. Teaching the children the importance of using... our scraps to feed the worms is such an important sustainable resource, as the children not only learn that food should not be wasted but can be used for worms to turn into a vital resource for our gardens. Practising sustainability empowers children to construct knowledge, explore values and develop an appreciation of the environment and its relationship to their worlds. 20.01.2022 Toddler 2 Room International Literacy Day 2020 The 8th of September was proclaimed International Literacy Day by UNESCO in 1966 to remind the international community of the importance of literacy for individuals, communities and societies, and the need for intensified efforts towards more literate societies. The issue of literacy is a key component of the UNs Sustainable Development Goals and the UNs 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.... The Toddler Two Room celebrated the day by gathering on the mat and exploring some new dinosaur books that were being introduced to the room yesterday. The first book was an interactive book in which the children were required to find things such as 5 dinosaurs with horns or 3 dinosaurs with spots. Once we had completed this story, we moved on to Ten minutes to bed Little Dinosaur. The children have also enjoyed reading our new dinosaur books to each other and themselves during free playtime.

19.01.2022 Cake Day. Nursery. 26/11/2020 The children enjoyed helping Educator Hayley make a yummy cake for cake day. The children helped mix the batter before sending the cake off to the kitchen for Phil to cook for us. At afternoon tea the children enjoyed devouring them along with their fruit. Even the allergy children helped mix the batter, even though they were unable to consume the yumminess.

19.01.2022 Chocolate Milkshake Day and Cupcake Making for Child Protection Week. 11/09/2020 Nursery.... Today we celebrated a few different events in the Centre. We enjoyed a group activity making cupcakes for Child Protection Week. The Children sat at the table and in their highchairs and watched Educator Hayley prepare the cupcake batter. The children also took turns mixing and peeking into the bowl and looking at the pink cupcake mix. Child protection is the protection of children from violence, exploitation, abuse, and neglect. Child protection systems are a set of usually government-run services designed to protect children and young people who are underage and to encourage family stability. Also today we had delicious Chocolate Milkshakes for Chocolate Milkshake Day. Its a day dedicated to having a delicious beverage. What an amazing reason to have a treat with our yummy cupcakes at afternoon tea. 19.01.2022 Toddler 2 Room This year National Child Protection Week will celebrate its 30th year with the theme: Putting children first Putting children first was front of mind for National Association for Prevention of Child abuse and Neglect (NAPCAN) when the National Child Protection Week campaign was launched in 1990. The aim was the bring abuse and neglect out of the shadows and put child wellbeing on the national agenda. Under this years theme of Putting children first we inv...ite all Australians to look at how they can prioritise children in their lives and communities and to engage in National Child Protection Week as individuals, and as part of families, organisations, communities and society. This week to support and acknowledge the importance of National Child Protection Week the Toddler Two Room has participated in a variety of activities including colouring pages produced by NAPCAN specifically for this week as well as making cupcakes and decorating them.

14.01.2022 Toddler 2 National Recycling Week Now in its 25th year, Planet Ark's National Recycling Week (Monday 9 to Sunday 15 November 2020) provides an important opportunity for councils, workplaces, schools and individuals to improve their recycling knowledge build better recycling habits and build trust in recycling. This year's theme is 'Recovery - A future beyond the bin'. We invite you to value your resources, giving them a second life by reducing virgin resource use, reusing an...d recycling. Reducing our waste not only keeps valuable materials out of landfill it also benefits the environment by reducing greenhouse gas emissions and our need for new materials. Reducing and reusing can also save you money at home and in the workplace. The Toddler Two Room to this opportunity to spend the week recycling green waste from the yard and repurpose this as art materials. The children collected leaves, small sticks, flowers, bark etc to create amazing artworks such as paintings, collage, stamping etc. On Remembrance Day, the children painted bottle tops either red or black as we created a Poppy as well as using roses from a family’s garden to create a Toddy 2 sign for our class window. Outcome Five: Children are effective communicators Vygotsky emphasised the importance of relationships and interactions between children and more knowledgeable peers and adults. 14.01.2022 Toddler 2 Room The Toddler Room has shown a great interest in the Dinosaurs that have been located outside in the yard over the past few weeks. Educators Lisa, Jazz and Mikayla had noticed that many of our children were very interested in playing with exploring these great creatures so on Monday this week we gathered the children and talked about dinosaurs and if we would like to make a dinosaur area in our room. This was a BIG YES! So on Tuesday after work, Lisa stayed and ...started to create our very own Toddler Dinosaur Cave, complete with logs, rocks, plants, books and even some small world play areas. The Toddler children were so excited when they arrived (as were all the children in the family grouping) and could not wait to explore the new area. This, however, is not yet complete, as the children are also making a paper mache volcano to not only make a part of our cave but enabling it to be used to this to further extend our STEM learning and experiences.

14.01.2022 The Toddler Two Room has been a hive of activity this week. With Christmas fast approaching the children have been busy producing some beautiful but super-secret Christmas gifts for their families, they cannot wait to take this home. This week also saw the children celebrate Book Week with many of our friends coming to school dressed up or using the room dress ups to participate. If Book Week and Christmas gifts didn’t excite us enough we also had Austin bring us all a Christmas Cookie each to enjoy as well as making cupcakes.

12.01.2022 Toddler 1 Room This week we had national child protection week, Toddler One engaged in making a cake as well as having some time sitting at the table colouring in a lovely picture that was sent in by mission Australia for the children to enjoy. Did you know, every single day in Australia 130 children suffer abuse or neglect? Since 1988, Act for Kids has provided free therapeutic support for thousands of kids and families. 12.01.2022 Toddler 1 Room Today we had sustainability day at Carlton House, the Toddler One children had some one on one time with Teesh making cute little egg carton butterflys to hang up in our courtyard. Teesh cut each section of the egg carton some there was one for each child before letting the children paint their butterfly with Blue, Pink and Orange paint. Painting Benefits Among the various aspects that painting allows you to cover, some of the greatest benefits integrated w...ith painting are: Painting can help your children communicate their emotions or feelings. Through the use of different colours, they can express themselves without the use of words. Painting allows children an educational opportunity that is also fun and exciting. Painting aids children acquire hand-eye coordination, an important skill in their age. This is developed while they learn to paint the parts that they see; making sure their hand movement is at par with their vision. Painting aids your child to develop mobility skills. Their hand muscles are being used, which allows them a scope to develop both mentally and physically. 10.01.2022 Pirates dress up fun day Friday tomorrow 18th all rooms

10.01.2022 The Toddler Two Room were very excited this morning as they all gathered at the table to make vanilla cupcakes for our afternoon tea today. Each child was given the opportunity to help add something into the bowl before helping to stir the ingredients. Cooking is such a vital life skill to introduce to children as this allows for so many learning opportunities such as cooking, following instruction, mathematical terms such as how many eggs (2) how much butter (tablespoons), how much milk (mils) and how many cakes did we make. As you can see they all enjoyed the end product at afternoon tea time.

09.01.2022 Toddler 2 Room Today the toddler two children enjoyed making our volcano for the dinosaur cave. As today was sustainability day this experience was a fantastic extension of this as our volcano is made from recycled materials such as newspaper, catalogues, plastic bottle, flour leftover from our fathers day cooking and water.

06.01.2022 Sustainability Day in Preschool One As today is Sustainability Day Mel provided the children with recycled milk bottle lids to use to do an artwork with. We used fine paintbrushes to apply the paint to the lids creating different patterns and artworks by using different coloured paints before turning the lids over and stamping them onto the paper. Preschool One children show a lot of interest in a variety of craft and painting is one of our favourites. ... Painting allows children an educational opportunity that is also fun and exciting. 06.01.2022 Ice Cream Sundae Day. 12/11/2020 Nursery What fun we had at afternoon tea with our delicious Ice Cream Sundae’s! The children loved their yummy treats. Our allergy children were able to have something similar in their bowls so they weren’t left out.

05.01.2022 Child Protection Week in Preschool One This week Preschool One has been focusing on Child Protection Week. At group times, we have been talking about our five Heroes. We all said our mum, dad, aunty and some of us with siblings mentioned them and our teachers, Mel and Sam. ... For our craft for these activities, we sat with Sam and Mel and writing down on our craft who our five heroes are and then coloured in our hand. These people are the heroes that we look up and make us feel safe; we can go to them if we need help or feeling hurt. This also led to us discussing the different emotions that we feel at different times. This could be happy, excited, sad and angry. We showed what our faces look like for the different expressions. We helped Mel to make some yummy cupcakes and were very interested in the process. These cakes were supplied by Mission Australia and they were very yummy! We counted out the patty papers making sure there were enough cupcakes for each child. We then talked about the different ingredients that we put into the mixture. Mission Australia - Central West

04.01.2022 Bravehearts White Balloon Day. 11/09/2020 Nursery. The Nursery children had a wonderful playtime this morning and throughout the day with white balloons to celebrate the day. ... We love balloons in our room and the children loved chasing them around, hitting and kicking them out in the fresh air and in the room as well. 04.01.2022 Remembrance Day 11/11/2020 Nursery Remembrance Day is an important day in the Australian calendar signifying the remembrance of our fallen and serving service men and women in the armed forces. We stop at 11am to remember them. The Nursery children sat before lunch and listened to the bugle playing. In the afternoon the children coloured in a remembrance scene with coloured pencils.

03.01.2022 Preschool 2 Room Mission Australis - Central West Child Protection Week From the 6th of September to the 12th of September, we have celebrated Child Protection Week in Preschool Two. ... (Thursday) Cupcake Making Today for our Child Protection activity, we got to make cupcakes with Miss Emily. To make our cupcakes we firstly had to collect our cooking utensils from the kitchen, we needed a bowl, milk, wooden spoon, patty cake wrappers, melted butter and 2 eggs from our chickens here at the centre. We each took turns at putting our ingredients into the large mixing bowl, we then each took turns mixing and stirring the mixture into the bowl. We had to mix the ingredients all together, to make a consistent mixture and to remove all the lumps from the mixture. It took us a while to get the mixture right. After we finished mixing, we watched Miss Emily, put the mixture into the patty cake wrappers. We got to eat our cupcakes with our afternoon tea, they were very yummy. We would like to thank Mission Australia Dubbo for supplying our centre with the cake packets to make our cupcakes - we had fun making them.

03.01.2022 R U OK Day in Preschool One Today at Carlton House, we are learning about R U OK Day. In Preschool One we discussed what R U OK Day is and the importance of why we ask our family and friends if they are ok. We talked about who we can go to if we need to talk to someone, and if we do ask someone if they are ok what we could do if they need some help. This included let mum, dad or the teacher know. Due to child Protection week, we have been learning about our feelings/emotions. We have also been talking about asking our friends and family R U OKAY. We have been talking about if we are sad or mad, to ask our friends or a trusted adult for a hug. R U OK? is an Australian non-profit suicide prevention organisation, founded by advertiser Gavin Larkin in 2009. It revolves around the slogan "R U OK?", and advocates for people to have conversations with others. 02.01.2022 Snapshot around preschool One 7th to 11th September 2020 This week in Preschool One, we have been very busy with many different centre events: child protection week which included cooking cupcakes that were supplied by Mission Australia, finishing off superhero week, Literacy Day, R U OK? Day, white balloon day and chocolate milkshake Day. We have been enjoying the dress ups and home corner this week. Pretending to cook meals for our peers. We have been showing lots of inter...est in the eggs in the home corner as some of us have said our parents make eggs at home. We have been playing with playdough; we enjoyed making people and animal: snakes and turtles were very popular. We have been practising identifying numbers on the clock. We noticed the clock had fallen down when one of the children noticed the different numbers on the clock. We sat with Mel taking turns at saying and pointing to the different numbers on the clock and saying what we think they are. We are very clever! We enjoy helping Mel and Sam feed the animals in the centre. Making sure, they have enough food and water. White Balloon Day we played with white balloons, throwing them to our peers and to Mel. The weather has been lovely this week to play outside. We have been enjoying the sandpit, bikes and climbing equipment. Thanks for a fantastic week, Mel and Sam. See more

02.01.2022 World Children’s Day in Preschool One Today at group time we talked with Mel about the world, while looking at the world globe. We found Australia and talked about the town that we live in, Dubbo. We looked at the globe finding Dubbo and some of us talked about different places that we know of and we found them on the globe. We then looked to see how far this was from Dubbo. We were all very intrigued about the light blue being the ocean around Australia and that’s where th...e sea animals are. Afterwards, we then enjoyed doing children’s yoga that has children’s favourite animal poses. The turtle pose we all found hilarious to do. See more

Nursery. 09/09/2020 RU OK is a suicide prevention organisation aimed at starting the difficult conversation with people who suffer from depression, anxiety and suicidal tendencies. By asking someone if they are ok we are showing them that we are thinking of them even if we dont fully understand what they are going through. ... The babies in the Nursery today participated in outside play in the Nursery Courtyard this morning to show our support. Even though they are at such a young age to fully understand the real meaning of the day Educators and children engaged in parallel and individual play outside. They showed off their sharing skills, gentle hands and caring natures during their playtime. See more

01.01.2022 Today Toddler One enjoyed making a Vanilla Cake for cake day, we watched Matilda tip the cake mix into the big bowl before we talked about what we were putting in it next. We placed the milk, butter and eggs into the cake mix before each having a turn to mix it all in together ready to place in the cake tin and take it off to get cooked ready for us to enjoy for afternoon tea time.
