20.01.2022 Massage Ball for Tight and Sore Muscles https://goto.exercisesforinjuries.com/6oa 1. Chest Roll - The chest is a common place for muscles to get short and tight.... Most of us have poor posture and this is only worsened by the amount of sitting we do. As we sit or stand with poor posture our shoulders hunch forward and the muscles in the chest shorten and get tight. This makes them weak and causes muscle imbalances that can lead to pain and injury. Tight chest muscles can cause things like neck, shoulder and back pain, cracking shoulders and much more. It is very important that we open up the chest muscles to improve our posture and decrease pain and tension. Begin standing facing a wall. Place the ball between the wall and your chest, beginning on one side of your chest. Lean into the wall and move your upper body side to side, up and down, finding areas of tightness and staying in those areas longer. Make sure to keep breathing. Roll one side of your chest for 30 seconds to 1 minute and then switch sides. Repeat up to 3 times on each side. 2. Upper Back Roll - The upper back muscles can get tight from stress and pulling our shoulders up towards our ears. Releasing these muscles can help decrease neck, shoulder and back pain. Begin standing with your back to the wall. Place the ball between the wall and your upper back, avoiding any bony areas. Lean into the wall and move your upper body side to side, up and down, finding areas of tightness and staying in those areas longer. Make sure to keep breathing. Avoid your spine and roll one side at a time. You can roll the ball toward your lower back, but everyone’s situation is different and rolling near the low back may not be best for you. Roll one side of your upper back for 30 seconds to 1 minute and then switch sides. Repeat up to 3 times on each side. 3. Hip Flexor Roll - The hip flexors get especially tight from sitting for long periods of time, which means that most of us will have them. Rolling out the hip flexors can help decrease hip and back pain and increase range of motion at the hip. Like the chest muscles, it is important to regularly stretch out the hip flexors to reverse the damage that sitting can do. Begin lying face down on the floor and place the ball under the front of your hip and the floor. Avoid the bony area of your hip and move side to side to find the tightest area for you. Roll slowly in this area and breathe. Roll one side of your hip flexors for 30 seconds to 1 minute and then switch sides. Repeat up to 3 times on each side. 4. Foot Roll - The bottoms of our feet work really hard for us, and most of us never think to stretch or roll them. Your feet will thank you for this one. Place the ball under the sole of your foot and roll along the length of your foot. If you find extra tender areas, spend more time there. Don’t forget to breathe! Roll one sole for 30 seconds to 1 minute and then switch sides. Repeat up to 3 times on each side.

03.01.2022 The results of the National Pain Survey are back and they reinforce the role massage and physical therapists have in helping manage the symptoms of people who s...uffer from chronic pain. Remedial massage practitioners especially are among the top health professionals used to help manage chronic pain. Since many of these referrals come from GPs, it also reinforces the role we have in establishing and maintaining professional networks with other health practitioners.
