24.01.2022 Most of you would notice we always ask if you are contactable while away (even if you are just heading an hour away) and we also keep a 2nd contact on file. Oddly, we've found over the last couple of months a small handful of people kind've get annoyed with us asking this (??). It's for good reason! At any moment there may be a need to make contact for a variety of reasons, both for our furry guests and their owners. This is a visual example of why. Years ago we had a cat st...aying with us, who started twirling round in circles, was off balance, eyes darted from side to side etc and it turned out to be a fairly major medical condition. Our quick action saved his life. Zoom to now, and we have a cat who stays with us doing exactly this. But by being able to contact the owner, we have learnt she has been doing this for many years and it's been medically checked. It's a behaviour she developed years ago, when she learnt it gets her more attention and she does it often at home if her Mum & Dad are busy or even sleeping! (you see her doing this and of course, you go to her and make sure she's ok = more cuddle time). She actually purrs while doing this. Her eyes darting & off balance is due to dizziness, which she now learns to stop and twirl the other way. When either us or her owner, goes to her, she just flips over for a belly rub! We realise we just wrote a book, but our point is if we ask for extra contacts and what seems like meaningless info, it's all for good reason - a conversation with the owner, or alternative contact, can often save an unnecessary vet bill. So don't get snippy, be appreciative we actually care!!
23.01.2022 This funny little girl Quinn, was shy as a button on day 1. Then BAM out of her shell she came! And from then on she spent more time on 2 legs than 4 doing this over & over & over. Luckily Shane's easily amused and stood there letting her do it for hours
23.01.2022 Meet Rocky & Bullwinkle our two new foster boys These 1year old twins have only been with us for a day and are already winning us over. Rocky (right) is ultra affectionate and he wants to be the first to do everything. Bullwinkle (left) is shy but still very loving and follows Rocky's lead. Mind you, they were the opposite way round in their previous home ... We're hopeful that they can find a loving new home together, rather than separate them If you know anyone who may be interested in this handsome pair, head to South East Queensland Animal Rescue for full details: www.facebook.com/SEQAnimalRescue
21.01.2022 Just another night in our house...
19.01.2022 Sascha your antics never get old. This is exactly why we give you a cat sized swimming pool each time you come. 'Ya cheeky bugger
18.01.2022 Phoenix, one of our beautiful regular old boys just lurrrves his food tower. On the off chance we have a brain slip and put his biccies in his bowl, he'll stand there as if to say "what the??" until we fix our 'mistake'. **Turn up the sound on the 2nd vid**
18.01.2022 After years of trying to get the purrrfect pic of one of our regular families who stay in The Cottage - where they are all in the one shot together - Shane did it today! Mum Missy & her 3 sons - Cheeky, Rolly & Tiger. (The boys are all gentle giants who weigh 10kg+ and wouldn't hurt a fly).
17.01.2022 If anyone can help find a home for this gorgeous lil' fur baby Latte, please share and head to South East Queensland Animal Rescue for more details: https://www.facebook.com/172968619481409/posts/3072199559558286/?sfnsn=mo She is as cute as a button
11.01.2022 Aren't we lucky to have the sun shining today, to celebrate one of our lil' regulars 19th Birthday with us. Happy Birthday Pinot, you look as young as the day we met you many moons ago
10.01.2022 We love standing back at the end of a day or week and seeing quirky things across the whole group of guests we have in. Whether it be to do with names, or all cats are one gender, or even if all their owners have gone to the same place! (Weirdly we've had a week a few years ago where half the owners were on the same cruise!). Today made us chuckle with a full house of 28 furry guests and over half have found the hammocks! Usually we have one or two in at a time that sit in the curtains but 16 all at the same time is new! We're wondering if they communicate to eachother and pass on how comfy it is to the furry guest in the next Suite?? This is just a snippet of some of the puds who are having a relaxing holiday
07.01.2022 We don't usually put up posts about our home visits since it's not exactly Cattery-related. But as someone recently pointed out, pet sitting is a service we provide to our local area, for those families with multiple pets or pets that can't really stay somewhere outside their own home. Here are some of our lovable little home visits over the past month. We love that we can spend time with animals of all types, since we've both grown up with a menagerie ourselves all our lives and are experienced in looking after anyone from dogs & cats to reptiles and farm animals
07.01.2022 We're just touching base with everyone, following these terrible storms. We have gotten large hail, very bad winds etc - easily the worst storm we have ever had here - but just wanted to say everyone is safe. We have no power and have closed the cattery this afternoon since everyone has already been, so we can just focus on putting all cats first and ensuring they keep calm and safe. * We have tried to contact each owner who has a furry guest staying with us, to pass on this... message but there are a few people we missed due to not being able to look up your email address with no power so thought Facebook will be our next bet * Think it might be dinner by candlelight in the Cattery tonight Stay safe everyone x
06.01.2022 Sweet lil' Lily is another foster baby we have in while we have a couple of quieter weeks. This gorgeous girl may be small in size but big in personality! She has a huge purr, loves to play, is ultra affectionate and VERY intelligent. If you know anyone who may like to adopt this little girl please share :) For full details contact South East Queensland Animal Rescue www.facebook.com/SEQAnimalRescue
