23.01.2022 Are you having more vivid dreams? Or are you noticing that you’re memory isn’t so good, or that your mood is a little on the snappy side??? Long term chronic stress has a big impact on the brain - this article explains why we are all needing to be kind to ourselves and others right now...

22.01.2022 A very common conversation had with clients! Lol

21.01.2022 We are getting lots of inquiries about whether we are open or not... and the short answer is yes! Kingsley is currently taking Acupuncture bookings for Wednesdays and Fridays. Massage appointments will be available soon - on a reduced schedule initially.... We are hoping to have things set up and ready to go in the next week or so - we are just waiting on a few things that are on back order to arrive before we start making bookings. Thank you to EVERYONE who has sent us messages of support, called to just have a chat, or sent us little care packages!! You’ve made us smile and kept us hopeful that the clinic will be able get through this. There’s a long way still to go, but we are very proud to be recognised as an essential service, and are committed to doing everything we can to keep the clinic a safe place for all clients to come and receive their treatments. We will post up massage availability once we are ready to take bookings, but if you wish to make an Acupuncture appointment, please call the clinic on 62787302 (it may take us a little bit of time to respond, so please be patient!). Love to you all xx Emily, Kingsley, and the team at CARM Therapies

21.01.2022 Just a little reminder to everyone that regardless of the Covid19 health restrictions, if you are unwell in anyway, please call the clinic and reschedule your appointment. Also, if you have been unwell and are on antibiotics - even if you are feeling better - we encourage you to reschedule your appointment for when your course of antibiotics is finished. Above all, keep washing your hands, dispose of used tissues immediately, and if you’re out and about, keep practicing soci...al distancing. Oh and one last thing - please don’t hoard toilet paper!! We’ve been there - let’s not go back there

21.01.2022 Thanks to a friend for sharing this little gem! We could all do with a pick-me-up after the past few months, and these are all simple ways to boost your happy hormones

20.01.2022 And so the time has come where we can no longer absorb the extra costs we are having to incur, and thus the inevitable price rise is upon us! From 1st August we will be increasing our treatment prices as follows: Acupuncture: $105... 1hr Remedial Massage $105 90 min Remedial Massage $145 30min Remedial Massage $75

20.01.2022 A little gem from the JEMS crew!

17.01.2022 Everyone’s lives, both personal and professional, have been affected in some ways over the past few days and weeks. You may not always know what’s happening, so... it’s important we’re kind to each other during this challenging period. 17.01.2022 Watch this space...!!!

17.01.2022 It’s beautiful and sunny outside, but I don’t feel like getting out of bed. I’m utterly exhausted, even though physically I haven’t been doing very much. I have had a lot of kind hearted support and words of wisdom given over the past two weeks, and whilst I am very grateful for it all, I also now need a break from the information overload. My head is swimming with things I have to do, and questions about what will happen over the next few months whilst this pandemic continue...s to take away all that was normal for all of us. And right now, all I can do is sleep! We all process things in different ways, and just like the stages of grief, we aren’t always on the same timeline for which stage we are going through and how long each stage will hang around, or if it will pass and then return. And we don’t all have the same coping strategies for how we work through things. Some people get very busy and manage to achieve a huge amount in a small time, whilst others procrastinate or just stop. I’m a bit of a combo - one day I do a lot, then the next I do nothing much at all. Over the past week I’ve gone back and forth emotionally with the different stages of grief. I’ve had denial, I’ve been angry, I’ve accepted but then been angry again, and ive definitely tried bargaining. But today it’s depression. It won’t be long lasting - for me it’s usually a day or two of feeling down and unmotivated - but none the less that’s where I’m at today. I’m not telling you any of this to get more words of sympathy or support. I’m telling it to you because I want you all to know that these feelings are all normal human emotional responses that many of us will be experiencing right now. Grief is not related purely to the loss of a loved one. It is a collective of feelings that we experience for many reasons - loss of a job, loss of a home, loss of a dear friend, loss of an animal, loss of freedom, loss of control, to name a few. If you are having these feelings and are finding that you’re not coping with them, please talk to your GP, a psychologist, Beyond Blue, or Lifeline Canberra Also, if you have a loved one who is maybe not quite themselves, try to talk to them about what they are feeling so you can understand what stage they are at. We sometimes forget that others around us are processing things too, and when our emotions aren’t matching, it can be tough to allow each other space and not judge each other. So if you need to stop and rest - Do it. If you need to be busy - do it. If you need to cry - allow yourself to cry. If you need to talk - there is always someone who will listen. Let’s all take care of ourselves, so that we can be ok to be there for others as well xx

16.01.2022 My close friends know how much I love tacos So this post tickles my fancy - and it’s true! Don’t be hard on yourself if you’re having a day where everything (including yourself) falls apart xx

16.01.2022 Some good news for us here in the ACT with more restrictions being eased as of this Friday - but this doesn’t mean we are in the clear! Please, if you have ANY symptoms of COVID19, even mild ones, go get tested. The only way we keep our restrictions being eased is if we have a true picture of what’s happening in the community, and to do that, people need to get tested. Yes, it may seem inconvenient to isolate for a few days while you wait for your test results, but if you’re... unwell, you should be isolating regardless of what you have! Together, we can keep our community happy and healthy

16.01.2022 Oh! This is so lovely and so true https://www.facebook.com/6532933343/posts/10156835100003344/?vh=e

15.01.2022 As 2020 draws to a close, we wanted to send out some love to all our amazing clients and FB community! It’s been a year of some massive highs and lows for us, and we know we are not alone in that quick synopsis. One thing we can say for certain though, is that the support we have received from our community has been absolutely beautiful. We have been constantly blown away by the kindness of others this year, and thank you all from the bottom of our hearts ... Our hopes for 2021 are that we can continue to support you all, to keep a smile on your faces, and to celebrate all the little things that make all of our lives amazing. Enjoy bringing in the new year, and stay safe! Team CARM (This is me dancing through a natural archway on the Kokoda Track. It had been a hard slog that day, but this arch made me so happy! It’s the little things! xx)

15.01.2022 Some nice research results for the application of Massage Therapy to assist in the reduction of severity, frequency, and duration, of chronic tension headaches.

15.01.2022 For anyone traveling to/from Brisbane...

14.01.2022 It’s been a cold, wet, and windy, past few weeks, and that’s given a lot of us time to slow down and reflect on the past few months. Many of us have been feeling a little less sure of ourselves, stressed, and a little bit caged, all due to restrictions that have been placed on our usual routines. Many of us have also had to forgo planned holidays to see loved ones or exciting new places, and many of us have had to adjust to working from home.... A big theme we are seeing and hearing about in the clinic, is people either accepting ‘the new norm’ and adapting to find new and fun ways to beat the gloom, or fighting against it and finding themselves angry and frustrated. If you’re finding yourself in the second group and aren’t sure what to do, remember that there are people who can help you find your way back to some peacefulness. Make a time to see your GP and talk about how you’re being affected by the pandemic. Create a plan for seeing a Counsellor or Psychologist, and talk about ways you can still enjoy some freedom whilst remaining safe and well - and keeping others safe and well too. Long term stress and anxiety is not something that should be ignored, so look after your health and wellbeing now, so that the future can be a happier, brighter place.

14.01.2022 Well, it’s official!! We finally own our shop!! A MASSIVE THANK YOU goes out to Kingsley’s Mum Valmai, for her help in getting this to happen - we could never have done this without your support! Another massive thank you goes out to Emily’s parent for all of the support and assistance over the years, but particularly during our shutdown xx... To all our friends and family that told us not to give up when things looked bleak earlier in the year - thank you!! And lastly, to all of our clients that have put their faith in us to help you with your health and well-being - we cannot thank you all enough for the words of encouragement, the little messages of support, and the smiles you put on our faces every day! This year has been the strangest and most challenging time for all of us, so we have decided that we are just going to celebrate all the little (and big!!) wins we can! Bring on the champagne

13.01.2022 It’s funny how sometimes you ask yourself a question and then suddenly the answer appears... I was only wondering about shampoo this morning, as I washed my hair, (as it is a soap that lathers), that if I ran out of soap maybe I’d use that instead for a few days if needed... then BAM this little gem pops up!

13.01.2022 Just a little bit happy to finally be rid of the carpet in my treatment room!! Thanks for the awesome job by Carpet One Floor & Home who also did our exercise room a few years back!

12.01.2022 Having trouble getting out of bed on these cold Canberra morning? Has the cold weather got your bones aching?? The clinic is a balmy little oasis for all to enjoy whilst getting those aches and pains attended to! Give us a buzz and get yourself booked in for some Acupuncture or Remedial Massage ... 62787302 or [email protected]

12.01.2022 As we are all getting busier and getting back into our more ‘normal’ routines, we would just like to take the time to remind you all of a couple things... 1. Pl...ease keep up your basic hygiene of hand washing, social distancing and staying home if you are unwell. 2. If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, please do so as soon as you know you can’t attend the time you have booked. (we have unfortunately been having a lot of no shows and very late cancellations recently, and it really is unfair to our therapists - who come in specifically for your treatments - if you cancel out last minute or don’t show up.) please call the clinic if you need to move an appointment :) 3. Be kind to yourself! This year has been tough in so many ways, so take time to do good things for yourself and don’t overbook yourself now that things are opening up more and more! 4. This haiku sums up how many of us feel right now! So re-read number 3

11.01.2022 More high levels of pollen for the rest of the week...

11.01.2022 If you have been at this venue and are self isolating, please call the clinic to reschedule your appointment! Also, if you have been in close contact with someone who has been in a hot spot (anywhere in NSW or VIC), we are advising you to postpone your appointment until the contact has received their COVID test results. We have a lot of immunocompromised clients, and we are relying on the public to do the right thing and get tested if you are unwell with any cold or flu symp...toms, and to reschedule your appointments if you have any symptoms of any illness. Together we can keep CARM and carry on, and we can keep each other safe

11.01.2022 A very good read for anyone wanting clear advice and information on the current policies and considerations surrounding Covid19. #spreadlovenotgerms #stayhomesavelives... https://www.health.gov.au//covid-19-in-australia-we-are-no

11.01.2022 Some appointment times have opened up for Remedial Massage treatments tomorrow (Sat 18th July)... Caitlin has a 10:30 am and a 3:15pm Robert has a 10:15am... Give the clinic a call on 62787302 if you want to make one of them yours!!

10.01.2022 Whilst we know that many people are concerned about whether or not they are able to have a treatment, we would just like to reassure you all that we are doing everything within the health and safety standards, to keep the clinic clean and our therapists up to date with the current best practice policies and procedures. Due to the nature of our business, especially as we offer Acupuncture and Dry Needling, we are inspected yearly by ACT Health to ensure we comply with infectio...n control standards. This means that we have strict rules about hand washing and cleaning protocols for linen in place all year round. We take your health and wellbeing very seriously, and as such have implemented extra procedures like cleaning the front desk, door handles, chairs, computers and the Eftpos machine etc after every client has attended. We are encouraging all clients to use hand sanitiser before and after treatments. And are educating people on the importance of proper hand washing, and coughing/sneezing into your elbow or a tissue - then disposing of the tissue straight away and washing hands/using sanitiser immediately. We have also all completed a certificate in infection control training - Covid19 (Robert has completed this too, he just hasn’t been in the clinic the past couple days to pin it up). So, if you are well, and as long as we are well too, we are still open and happy to keep helping our community during this time of unease. Lots of love to you all Team CARM

10.01.2022 Public Health Alert for Monday’s Thunderstorms...

09.01.2022 In case you missed it, Woolworth’s is now advising ACT residents to wear a face mask when shopping at their stores. We will be keeping an eye on recommendations from the health department regarding advice for health clinic settings, and may soon require clients to bring their own mask when attending treatments. So, it’s probably best to buy or make yourself a few masks to have when you’re needing to be out and about ... Check out the gorgeous face mask model below! Dogs are the best

08.01.2022 Massage appointments will finally be opening up very soon - stay tuned!! In the meantime - Something funny to brighten up your day

08.01.2022 I think a lot of us can relate to the Sloth

07.01.2022 I laughed a little bit too much at this one

07.01.2022 Wishing you and your loved ones a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. The clinic will be closed until Sat 9th Jan. Caitlin and Robert will be available for treatments from the 9th Jan.... Emily, Kingsley, and Rowena, will be back from the 18th Jan. The clinic phone and email will be checked sporadically over the next few weeks, we will try to get back to you when we can, but it may take us a while, so please be patient If you’re traveling, please stay safe! Love to you all Team CARM

06.01.2022 Happy Easter However you’re celebrating, we hope you’re staying safe and well xxHappy Easter However you’re celebrating, we hope you’re staying safe and well xx

06.01.2022 Please take this in the spirit of having a chuckle! With thanks from a FB friend

06.01.2022 Help is available if you are feeling overwhelmed or anxious, even if you can’t quite put your finger on what’s upsetting you or making you feel sad or confused. In the link below, there are many different organisations listed that are all about caring for our diverse communities mental health and well-being. So if you, or someone you know, needs a bit of help, have a look at the ACT Health website for some reputable mental health organisations that can help in getting started on the path to feeling better.

04.01.2022 SOUTH COAST COVID CASES! There have been a number of confirmed cases of COVID19 around the NSW South Coast region in the past few days. If you are traveling to the coast over the next few weeks, please reschedule any appointments you have at the clinic for two weeks after you arrive back in Canberra. And if you have ANY symptoms of cold or flu - however mild - please get yourself tested immediately.... Together we can keep our community safe and make sure our most vulnerable members of society are able to keep getting the treatments and support they need from our clinic.

03.01.2022 We are still open! As Allied Health has currently been declared an essential service, we are able to remain open at this stage. Pilates has however been postponed for the time being as we are unable to provide the space required for social distancing protocols for an indoor gathering.... As we get information regarding the clinic we will give you that information - we are keeping an eye on every announcement so that we can react quickly to any recommendations. We know how confusing this time has been for many, and that there is a lot of questions and uncertainty. Hang in there and be kind to each other. No one really knows what they are doing right now, so a kind word can go a long way xx Lots of love to you all Team CARM

03.01.2022 Happy Mother’s Day to all the wonderful mums out there! May the sun shine brightly on you and the ones you love

02.01.2022 What a difference 24hrs can make. It is with immense sadness that we have decided to close the clinic for the foreseeable future. We have tried to stay open for as long as possible to assist all of you with your ailments, but the stress of waiting to be shut down by the government has gotten too much and we made the decision this morning to close at the end of today.... To everyone who has sent messages of support, and called us to offer us assistance - Thank you from the bottom of our hearts! We don’t know when (or if) we will be able to re-open, but will keep you informed of news as it comes to us, and will be doing everything we can to be back, recharged and ready to support you all again. Stay safe, be kind to each other, and know that we love you all . Team CARM xx

01.01.2022 UPDATE: We are back in business - literally We are having some problems with our power in the clinic today - and that includes our phones!!... If you need to contact us, please call 0409915835 (Emily) or 0434083338 (Kingsley) or email us - [email protected]
