25.01.2022 So we have some good news and some not so good news. GOOD: Queenslanders can travel anywhere in Queensland from midday tomorrow! Yay! GOOD: All of the public toilets and walking trails at Carnarvon Gorge are open (excluding the 87km Great Walk).... NOT SO GOOD: You still have nowhere in the immediate area to stay overnight, as we are yet to receive any announcements regarding the reopening of commercial accommodation providers at Carnarvon Gorge. This includes Takarakka Bush Resort & Caravan Park - Carnarvon Gorge Queensland, Sandstone Park Carnarvon Gorge and Carnarvon Gorge Wilderness Lodge. Be sure to follow their pages and websites so youre the first to hear any future announcements straight from the horses mouth. Currently, the closest accommodation to the Gorge is Rolleston Caravan Park, which is just over 100 km from the Gorge. STILL TO COME: Queensland National Parks have not yet announced whether or not the Carnarvon Gorge and/or Big Bend Campgrounds will be open for the July school holidays. Well be sure to post more information as it comes to hand.

We cant wait to see you back out here when things normalise, Toni and Rob!

07.01.2022 IMPORTANT UPDATE There seems to be a bit of misinformation going around regarding camping in Queensland National Parks and Carnarvon Gorge. So please allow us to clear a few things up. 1) As per the current QPWS Park Alerts and the "Roadmap to easing Queenslands restrictions" (see attached images and link provided), all camping areas within Queenslands National Parks will remain closed until Stage 2, which begins at 11:59 pm June 12. Effectively, this means eligible cam...pgrounds can only reopen from June 13 onwards. 2) The Carnarvon Gorge campground will NOT be reopening at Stage 2 as it only ever opens for two week blocks during Qld school holidays. The next block wont commence until June 26th, provided everything proceeds as planned. 3) Outside school holidays, the only accommodation options at Carnarvon Gorge are with the three commercial providers, Takarakka Bush Resort, Sandstone Park, and Carnarvon Gorge Wilderness Lodge. So far, none of these providers have announced reopening dates. 4) All toilet facilities within Carnarvon Gorge section remain closed. 5) All walking trails within Carnarvon Gorge section are open, and have remained open throughout the Covid-19 crisis. So what does this mean? At the moment Carnarvon Gorge is only open for day trippers. For those locals wishing to tackle one of the Gorges full day walks, youll need to know how to do a classic bush poo STAY UP TO DATE by regularly checking this QPWS Park Alert Link: https://parks.des.qld.gov.au/park-alerts/
