16.01.2022 "Officially" a new home for the Carnarvon RSL. It might have taken a while, but the old Carnarvon fire station is now officially the new home of the Carnarvon R...SL! Commissioner Klemm and I went up recently to officially mark the handover and enjoy some lunch with the RSL team and the local emergency services crews. It was also a great pleasure to sit down with WWII veteran John Harper-Nelson who is turning 99 years old next January. Mr Harper-Nelson has a good history of beating the odds - he was wounded three times during his service in Italy! The veteran would also be a very familiar face to the people of WA in the 60s and 80s when as a newsreader on ABC TV his image was beamed around the state.
