22.01.2022 Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga is a style of yoga as exercise created by K. Pattabhi Jois during the 20th century, often promoted as a modern-day form of classical Indian yoga. He claimed to have learnt the system from his teacher, Tirumalai Krishnamacharya. The style is energetic, synchronising breath with movements. This posture Matsyasana or Fish pose is a modification of the traditional posture and can be legs lifted (more challenging version) or legs down. You can also use the benefits of blocks which is one of my favourite options to open the heart.

20.01.2022 My front door Christmas Wreath.... This is one that I selected years ago as it reminded me of my mum. My mum just loved loved Christmas and generated such wonderful and magical memories for our family. (I think this is why it’s very hard for my dad to participate at this time of the year) Mum was born in Finland and migrated to Australia when she was a teenage so many of these traditions were very European....but she didn’t care!... One of these memories that resonates with me was the gifts that she received as a child! She talked about how at Christmas as a child they loved Apples ...this was because during Christmas in Finland it was bitterly cold and having apples were a rarity! This wreath with its apples reminds me to keep this time of year simple...and celebrate your family with traditions of the past so we feel just as connected to our departed loved ones!
19.01.2022 Why do Yoga teachers need to maintain a personal practice? If I want to a better teacher....the answer is...I need to be a better student. "Practice and all is coming" (Pattabhi Jois)... In essence, he’s referring to the greater experience of yoga that comes with a disciplined and dedicated practice. If I don’t make time to get on my mat, I feel further disconnected to the practice and what it is truly all about. And without that connection, what am I teaching my students, if I don't follow the path? I'd be doing my students a disservice. The deeper my understanding of the practice, the more I can offer (authentically) to others. The other element is that I never have regretted getting on my mat...even when it may not be pretty..it may be frustrating...it brings all sort of emotions...and it's during these times that realise that I need it the most. Have you made time for your personal practice?
17.01.2022 How do you slow down? Over the last couple of days I’ve realised that I’m going at a frantic pace...It wasn’t until my husband mentioned that during our Sunday morning walk that I was power walking...that I wasn’t taking in the surroundings and enjoying the day. It was something that I needed to hear...my self awareness was not at its best!... So sorry hat day I chilled...read and relaxed! Thankful that my husband reminded me to slow down... Let me know how do you slow down in the comments.. Have a wonderful day!

11.01.2022 A balanced diet produces harmony throughout the body and helps maintain a free flow of vital energy. I have been a vegetarian for 7 years now and I felt that I need that additional support for my body. I have started a new protein powder Veego (Ice Cream Vanilla flavour)and I'm finding this delicious and very easy for my digestion. Having discussions with Ian Cariaga (I'm currently doing a mentorship) regarding the Solar Plexus or Manipura chakra I was reminded on the impor...tance of a balanced diet. He raised the importance of how having high quality food and appropriate quantities of foods, does and will have a detrimental affect on how our body performs. When trying to create more balance in my life, I look no further than my plate. As they say" You are what you eat" and what you eat has the power to determine your reactions to the world around you. Do you practice self care with food?

02.01.2022 By feeling bodily sensations, making subtle adjustments in weight and position to explore a pose, and being willing to stop at a place that feels right, yoga affirms and honours self-awareness. Yoga is a powerful way to help people trust and know their bodies again, so it's a terrific tool for improving proprioception (body movement).
