08.01.2022 Tonttus (elves) are an important part of Finnish folklore. There are many different tonttus that are guardians of different realms. The most magical for children is the Joulu Tonttu (Christmas elf). My mother brought to life the magic of the Joulu Tonttu every Christmas by creating advent calenders from empty matchboxes and decorating them in the form of a house. Each night once we were asleep the Joulu Tonttu would sneak in and leave us a small gift in the next day's empty d...raw. These magical memories inspired me to create a more permanent and personalized Joulu Tonttu advent calender for my children, with a photo of their 1st Christmas in one of the windows. The excitement they felt each year when their houses came out and the squeals of joy each morning to find a gift from the Joulu Tonttu are treasured memories. This one is for Aryanna and David Mclure's beautiful daughter Eleanor.
