21.01.2022 Enjoy each and every precious moment

21.01.2022 While kittens love sleeping like this, babies don't. It is important for your babies developing spine to sleep flat and a firm flat sleeping surface is recommended for SIDS prevention. If your baby falls asleep in a sitting position like this try to keep it short and use a well fitted flat mattress in a cot or bassinet wherever you can.

20.01.2022 Personalised Group Sessions are an easy way to problem solve in a relaxed atmosphere for as little as $40 per person. You select the topic for example: * Sleep (of course!) * Settling * Toddler Behaviour * Toileting... * Parents to be and New Parents Session * Toddler proofing ideas/safety tips https://carolinesangels.com.au//personalised-group-sessio/

20.01.2022 So proud of this little button! She started the week quite tightly swaddled however this created a restless sleep as she was busting to get out. It has taken her very patient parents a few days to get her used to her new found freedom and look how relaxed her sleeping posture now is. Sometimes change is a little tricky. If you feel stuck reach out through a phone or FaceTime consult, or a Virtual Home Visit Package. Results can be so worth the effort. www.carolinesangels.com.au

20.01.2022 Mothering has brought me untold joy and a depth of love for my children that I never knew one could feel. I have loved every age and stage watching my children grow, develop passions and become two of the most amazing women I know. (Yes, we had our tricky times like all parents). To all the mum's out there Happy Mother's Day, enjoy every bit of the journey and especially each and every day.

19.01.2022 Home Visits are back! I am very excited to let you know that a very limited number of home visits have been opened up starting next week. Follow the link or message me for more information. https://carolinesangels.com.au/baby-sleep-consultations/

18.01.2022 Tummy time and floor play is not only vital for your baby's development it can also help them sleep better. If your baby is not loving the floor (like this little chicken does) try more frequent opportunities for shorter periods of time to build their upper body strength. If you find your baby is startling awake, getting stuck in tricky positions during a sleep or needing to be swaddled floor play may help. This is because it will improve skill mastery, facilitate easy movement in the cot and give a more settled sleep. If your baby is more unsettled than you think is right for their age reach out - I am here to help

18.01.2022 Rednose (SIDS and Kids Association) recommend not to give your baby a cuddle or comfort toy until 7 months of age. Choosing a comfort toy for your baby to start taking to bed will serve as a helpful and positive cue. This is because the cuddle toy will tell your baby it is sleep time each time it appears. Also, there has been research (Yes! Someone was paid to research cuddle toys) that growing babies and toddlers chat and unwind to their cuddle toy about their day before the...y fall asleep and that this neutral sounding board helps a baby debrief. We would suggest choosing a toy that: Does not make any sounds Has no removable or loose parts Has no ribbons or ties Is pastel or neutral coloured Is not a choking hazard Is not too big or too small To know more about sleep hygiene and establishing a healthy and safe sleep pattern for your baby check out our Dynamic Baby Sleep Guides https://bit.ly/2VjLqrb

15.01.2022 FaceTime Practical Sessions allow me to virtually stay alongside you and be with you when you are settling your baby or toddler. This provides an opportunity to guide you and tailor strategy specifically to your needs and how your baby/toddler responds. At CA we are very familiar with using this format for our overseas clients and are excited to now offer this to our local families for that extra bit of support. Stay safe and well everybody and thanks again for your on-going support x https://carolinesangels.com.au//facetime-practical-consul/

13.01.2022 Great idea for helping your little ones to stay organised at home!

12.01.2022 This cutie I home visited recently has definitely mastered getting her fingers into her mouth. Finding your hands and bringing them to your mouth is one of your first developmental milestones. An important step for learning hand-to-eye and hand-to-mouth (so you can feed yourself later on) coordination. It starts by your baby bringing their hands to their midline and holding clasped hands together. You might notice your baby staring at their hands, realise they are attached t...o them and under their control. Also, sucking on your fingers is a common self soothing skill and is one way your baby knows how to settle. It doesnt necessarily mean they are hungry, nor does it mean they need a dummy. Mesmerising to watch infant development. I love it! *video posted with permission from parent

11.01.2022 Interesting tips and info..

11.01.2022 Is the 4 month sleep regression really a thing? Changes occur for bubs around the 4 month mark that influence sleep. This doesn’t necessarily mean that your baby’s sleep needs to regress. What you may not know is that your baby goes through a ‘critical phase’ hormonally from around 6 weeks to 4 months. This phase is all about settling in a night and day rhythm so your baby produces a lot of sleep hormone during this time (melatonin), more than at any other time. This is your ...babies clever way of setting up a night and day rhythm. Around 4 months your babies melatonin level settles back to normal levels that last a life span. Therefore, if there are any vulnerabilities for your baby in terms of sleep this will become more noticeable around 4 months. What you can do to help? During the first 3-4 months it can help if you: - Establish a night and day rhythm with regular day time feeds - Space feeds and sleeps well enough during the day so your baby is having a full feed - Sleep your baby in a dim (but not necessarily dark space) lit area during the day - Sleep your baby in a dark area overnight - Establish a ritual or routine for going to sleep - Where possible try to reduce the amount of help you are giving your baby at a sensory level during settles - this does not mean leaving them to cry rather cueing to your baby and helping as they need

10.01.2022 Just to make you giggle...

10.01.2022 Parenting trends and what is (or isn't appropriate) are ever changing. Looking back on our past can be so fascinating, imagine doing this!

10.01.2022 Most babies start to develop a night and day rhythm between 6-16 weeks; dont worry if it takes a little time for this to settle down or you are not quite there yet. Here are some ways to help support your babies emerging sleep overnight: In the morning Wake your baby by 7am Feed in a well-lit living area during the day... Aim to feed your baby max 3-4 hourly from now until you go to bed tonight Weather permitting; try to get some outdoors time at least once per day. Keep sun safe! Evening routine Around 5-6pm, start a routine of an evening bath, massage and getting into pyjamas At sundown, turn off overhead lights, put on lamps and keep stimulation to a minimum Aim to settle your baby between 6 and 7pm each evening. 07.01.2022 Babies are naturally drawn to faces in many cases any face on any object will do but a human face is especially exciting. By around 4 months onwards you will notice that your baby knows how important you are as their main caregiver. They love your face and being around you, but may start to be a little shy around strangers or people they dont see every day. In new settings or around others it can help if your baby keeps you in their line of site. When you are settling you...r baby, especially if you are making changes, keep your face in touch with your babies (unless they are arching away from you). Relax and concentrate on how your face is responding to a new situation and how your baby is going to respond to that situation as well. 01.01.2022 I chatted to a mum this week who was really struggling settling her little one. She had been advised by another source to change from feeding her baby to sleep to cot settling and patting her baby to sleep. This can work for some however it isn't the only way to move forward with establishing a healthy sleep pattern for your little one. Changing sleep patterns doesn't need to be dramatic or unsettling. Here at CA HQ, I am all about gradually phasing in change at a pace you and your baby can manage. Take a mental snap shot of how your baby prefers to go to sleep. Consider every sensory aspect of their settle and alter this gradually in phases at your pace. You can give it time and ease in to each change as you move forward. Remember, I am here to help if you need me! Caroline R
