25.01.2022 You may have wondered about all the amazing looking contraptions that could be added to your Singer machine. Here is the zig-zag attachment that I have been playing with.

25.01.2022 So I'm in Taranaki New Zealand. No cases of the virus here. Waiting to see if my flight back to Brisbane will be affected. I know l won't be back at work for 2 weeks after my return. Lucky I have plenty of work to do servicing my Singers ALONE in the shed. Meanwhile found some jobs to do here, and I have a .... Bernina. Great little machine.

22.01.2022 https://www.youtube.com/watch Lots of people ask about a 201 sewing leather ? Harry Rogers is the man to listen to. Not the sellers that advertise ' Singer 201 industrial sewing machine '

21.01.2022 If you happen to be sitting on one of these old Singer stools, you are probably lucky. Someone wanted it bad in New Zealand. Originally with a timber top

20.01.2022 Sometimes you just need to do it one day at a time :)

19.01.2022 Brisbane, what is happening with the prices here ??? I'm going to advertise this Empisal I just got sewing nice for $185 ! I have table tops that have been abandoned to make hallway tables, I need to buy bases to convert machines and tables BACK to treadles. How can a neglected shed find be that price ???

18.01.2022 Day one of isolation following my quick return to Brisbane was to unpack the treadle legs and flywheel. Customs were very interested, however let me keep them.

17.01.2022 Hand crank machines are great, no electricity, great control, one stitch at a time and easy to use. Who thinks about servicing the crank handle ? It's not hard and for all the years it's faithfully done the job, well deserved.

17.01.2022 There is a reason why people say this when advertising a Singer that is very old. ' Singer sewing machine in good condition I was told it does work but not game to turn it on.' The problem is the sellers that will tell you ' It still works fine' and want to be paid for a 'usable' machine. Here is what you get when the motor comes off, and you can see the wiring from the controller box to the motor. Bare wires are dangerous, this is not ok to use.

17.01.2022 Have to say I was tempted by the description. However common sense prevailed ! It's a vibrating shuttle with whats left of Sphinx decals. Cotton reel table. Needs a whole lotta lovin

16.01.2022 I'm so excited I have kids that do different sewing. The latest surprise is from David who has taught himself the art of hand made leather work. I saw all the work and kept wondering when I would score ! Finally, a pouch for my tiny scissors, exactly what I asked for

15.01.2022 Anyone looking for new sewing challenges ???

15.01.2022 There are a few reasons why your wonderful vintage machine may struggle to do beautiful stitches, here is one answer.... built up grunge and lint. There is also a point at which a NEW bobbin case may be the answer.

15.01.2022 These three Tiffany 15s were all forgotten about, and sadly neglected. They have been cleaned up, serviced, and housed in box cabinets. They are in working order again. Each machine is over 100 years old, and ready for work, despite their well worn looks. I was wrong thinking that they wouldn't sell, they were snapped up.

15.01.2022 I've just sold a Box Cabinet treadle with a Lotus machine, good for someone to have a go on, and not worry about scratching it. :) That's been done so many times I made another pincushion for it to cover the bald spot ( pinrash )

14.01.2022 Sometimes you just have to move on from from feeling sad that a Singer won't be able to sew anymore and just say WOW

14.01.2022 How does a treadle sound ? Here is the answer :)

14.01.2022 Once you get used to the fabric moving it's a fun gadget.

12.01.2022 Working on a Singer 201, it was not pretty inside.... fast forward to job done and I'm happy.

11.01.2022 One would think I could have repurposed this Tupperware container long ago, BEFORE losing tiny screws and parts during the cleaning / restoration process. It's my latest 'Great Idea'

11.01.2022 This beautiful Singer 15 has just grown wings and gone to India. Have a look at all the wonderful things happening that are not devastating news. https://medium.com//coronavirus-101-good-news-you-probably

11.01.2022 One thing to see a treadle, another to hear it. Latest video is the sound of this Singer 66

09.01.2022 And here is the 1935 Singer hand crank happily back to work after total clean, service and polish.

09.01.2022 Wonder why Ivan thought he should build a bigger sandblaster ???

08.01.2022 You've got to appreciate the ingenuity here - repair of the Singer accessory box.

08.01.2022 Sometimes I get the tiniest bit cranky and frustrated when I feel like all the work is done, and I don't get the 'RESULT' I have to keep reminding myself it's just a process of elimination. I wasn't getting a nice stitch underneath and all it turned out to be was a TENSION SPRING !!! Little things do matter it turns out.

07.01.2022 Anyone needing guidance with making face masks ?

07.01.2022 'Let me google that for you' and just like magic I know more Singer terminology, and how to replace the oil wick on a 99 or 66. I did wreck a spring trying, so decided to 'google that' The first name to learn is 'ossilating hook bobbin case position bracket hinge stud set screw' All credit to the Andy tube here https://www.youtube.com/watch

06.01.2022 Wonder how everyone is spending their extra time.... remember to be careful :)

06.01.2022 For anyone that thinks there is a point of no return when restoring a Singer here is a another option. My friend Jenny does amazing work, and comes up with a New look really old Singer

06.01.2022 Thankfully I'm back in Brisbane ! Smooth flights, no dramas at all. Only issue was that strange double circular unusually heavy object in my hand luggage...

05.01.2022 Here is a thoroughly deserving cause that my friend Steve is organising. It's an awsome sight to see the tractors trekking through New Zealand He has always encouraged me with my hobby ( obsession ) and I owe him big time for looking after some of my Singer babies. We will be donating.

04.01.2022 Singers were made all around the world, I recently saved this 15 from becoming garden art ! It's not usual to find Singers from Canada in Australia. Here are the prefix letters for the countries that made the Singers.

04.01.2022 Some pages from the Singer Zig-zag manual

04.01.2022 Sometimes to get a Singer going you need to raid another machine for parts. After I disabled a Lotus Backclamper I felt sad because it was still sewing well ! So I found an even worse machine and got the part back. Here is the story in pictures, starting with the replacement part that was raided. The machine was filthy and neglected for years, now it's all go and sitting in a box cabinet ready to work.

04.01.2022 Here is some real nostalgia

02.01.2022 The ANZAC treadle is finished. Serviced and restored. Now looking for a new home. It's what I'll call a 'character' finish.

01.01.2022 Does this look like a fun Sunday ?

01.01.2022 There is something very special here caught by the artist. Seems very soothing. :)

01.01.2022 one good thing about being home is getting restorations finished. A classic 201.
