24.01.2022 The goal was to achieve pull ups from a loose hang position, controlled and without momentum - it was an ISOgoal I set myself in Lockdown2 that went a little astray. . Back to building grip and hang strength afresh. Scapular shrugs, lengthened eccentric phase and some small leg pull ups to distract. .... It’s a reminder of how quickly the body de-conditions but also of it’s incredible ability to respond to patterns and stimuli already experienced. . 24.01.2022 The driving force for these iso months has been to stay physically strong. An exercise whilst teaching class today had reminded me of a training technique I’d long forgotten. . This is Iron Ring (Hung Gar) strength training in horse stance. It was well over 7years ago that I last trained with these sliding, weighty, endurance testers.... I’m improvising here with circular patterns. . It’s such a great way to load and challenge the rotator cuff and shoulder complex whilst setting your quads on fire. The sliding and crashing of the rings against one another stimulates the need to hold strong and to control.
