16.01.2022 What a wonderful spring!!!

15.01.2022 The garden at Wiltshire, south west of Inverell is a cold winter garden, situated in a valley and near Myall Creek. It also is scorching in summer and to top it off is on heavy black soils!!! Keeping in mind that winter dormancy may be an issue I planted the garden with strong structural elements. Shown here is one of my favourite hedges, Eleagnus ebbengei, a wonderful shrub for many difficult garden conditions, from heavy to light, and both wet and dry soils, it tolerates shade and tree root competition too! It does have a down side though, when young bunnies are quiet partial to it!! In front are beautifully clipped balls of Teucrium fruiticosa

14.01.2022 The cascading form of a dew covered fountain grass.

14.01.2022 The stunning winter colour of the coral bark maple. Under planted with evergreen mounds of pittosporum "Miss Muffett" and mondo grass.

13.01.2022 The wonderful vermillion flowers of Zauschneria Californica Bowmans Hybrid look marvellous against the purple blue of the mountains at Eagles Bluff. I havent grown Zauchneria before and love the bright flowers set against their glaucous foliage. They are also very heat, frost and drought tolerant.

13.01.2022 Grasses and clipped shrubs.

12.01.2022 Kerry and Andrea Splatts beautiful garden east of Warwick.

12.01.2022 Lavatera Barnsley at Eagles Bluff. I had this Lavatera in my early days at Glenrock, but sadly lost it during the nineties drought. I found it again in Tasmania last year, how lovely it is to have it in my garden again.

12.01.2022 I love this mirrored pyramid as a focal feature!

07.01.2022 My roses are just starting to come out with another of my favourites Ceanothus Marie Simon

06.01.2022 If someone had suggested during the summer this year that the garden could look like this come autumn I would have been incredulous. Plants can be very resilient !

04.01.2022 Here are some of my favourite summer planting and flower combinations. Happy New Year to all!!

01.01.2022 I cant speak highly enough of the species Hydrangeas. They are tough, tolerating heat, drought and severe frost. Here Hydrangea arborescens Annanelle is spreading herself wonderfully in this shady border at Glenrock.
