24.01.2022 TED MACK FRIEND, MENTOR AND SHINING INSPIRATION My commitment to the voters of North Shore - to ensure more transparency and accountability from our elected leaders - is elegantly encapsulated In the following words of Ted Mack’s, written in 2007 but still so resonant and true today. All secrecy does is build public hostility. This is the reason we need open government, because it is after all public money and public policy we deal with and the public has a right to know ...and will always demand that right. Ted Mack was a very great Australian, a hero whom I am just so proud to be able to describe as my friend, mentor and shining inspiration. 23.01.2022 INSPIRATIONAL YOUNG PEOPLE My pleasure to welcome students from primary schools throughout Mosman at a breakfast to celebrate International Women’s Day 2019. Inspirational young people - future leaders of tomorrow. (With students from SCEGGS Redlands)
23.01.2022 VOTERS CONCERNED ABOUT CLIMATE CHANGE Today's Sydney Morning Herald story https://www.smh.com.au//climate-change-top-of-voters-minds, says "Exclusive Herald polling shows that 57.5 per cent of voters say they will be swayed by climate change and environmental protection when deciding who to vote for on March 23." If elected to NSW’s next government after March 23, I will immediately join with other crossbench Independents in demanding urgent action on climate change. 23.01.2022 CATCHING UP WITH COMMUTERS AT CREMORNE Commuters at the busy bus stop outside the Supa IGA supermarket in Cremorne Junction were happy to talk to me this morning about the NSW election 23 March 2019. Many had serious concerns about safety and inconvenience of the NSW Government plan to relocate the bus stop further away up Military Road towards Neutral Bay. I explained that if elected as their Independent MP for North Shore I would fight hard to prevent the bus stop being moved. I would love to have more comments from more voters in the North Shore electorate on traffic congestion, public transport, plans to move the Cremorne Junction bus stop, and on other issues concerning you.
22.01.2022 REGULATORY FAILURES AND STATE TAKEOVER OF DEVELOPMENT by Peter Abelson "I write in support of Carolyn Corrigan’s candidature to be elected as the Independent MP for the seat of North Shore at the NSW state elections on 23 March." "There are many issues. But a major concern for me and across the lower North Shore is excessive and poor development that diminishes the quality of life for all residents, old and new. Rules have been replaced by discretion, private certification is... wide open to abuse, and the State government has taken over from councils who represent local communities." 21.01.2022 SAVE OUR COUNCILS COALITION LAUNCH OF ‘A SEA OF RED INK’ As a former President of Save Our Councils Coalition (SOCC), and currently the Independent candidate for North Shore in the NSW State Election on 23 March 2019, I spoke at today’s launch of ‘Council Amalgamations: A Sea of Red Ink’. https://tinyurl.com/y3tu7cma
21.01.2022 SCHOOLS STRIKE 4 CLIMATE RALLY 15 MARCH 2019 Friday’s Student Global Strike 4 Climate Change Rally at the Town Hall was an inspiring experience. Globally many thousands of students in more than 100 countries took the day off school to unite in one shared commitment to the save our planet from the devastating effects of climate change. From primary school through to Year 12 the students were exceptionally well behaved, passionate and mature beyond their years. Bravo kids y...ou are leading the way. 20.01.2022 CLEAN UP AUSTRALIA DAY THIS SUNDAY 3 MARCH 2019 Earlier this week while campaigning as the Independent candidate for North Shore (NSW State Election 23 March 2019) at McMahons Point Ferry Wharf, an amazing flotilla of kayakers paddled past. The kayakers were workers from North Sydney companies helping to clean up Berry Island Reserve in the Clean Up Australia's Business Clean Up Day ahead of Clean Up Australia Day this Sunday 3 March 2019. I will be helping at Spit West Reserve site. Please come and help with the clean up if you can. Or enter your postcode to find other Clean Up Australia Day sites closer to you https://buff.ly/2NexOaS
18.01.2022 CELEBRATING INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY Amazing day recognising the achievements of women and their contribution to society. The guest speaker at Mosman Council’s breakfast was Professor the Hon Dame Marie Bashir AD CVO, NSW’s first female Governor and long-time Mosman resident.
17.01.2022 NSW INDEPENDENTS JOIN FORCES ON CLIMATE CHANGE. NSW Independents - Greg Piper, Joe Mc Girr and Alex Greenwich could become kingmakers in the event of a hung parliament. The trio are calling for action and a commitment to a 10 year adjustment strategy for coal mining communities. Transition away from coal is what the planet urgently needs but it requires planning to avoid social and economic impacts in mining regions they wrote in a letter to the NSW Premier and the NSW Oppo...sition Leader. If elected, I would immediately join forces with other Independents to push this much needed sensible agenda. Australia’s Climate Council has revealed that NSW is lagging behind the rest of the country and is responsible for more greenhouse gas pollution than any other state or territory. NSW continues to rely heavily on coal fired and gas power generation and is home to the oldest coal power stations, that collectively produced 82% of NSW’s electricity in 2017. Our elected leaders need to be open and upfront with the public and implement proactive transition processes away from coal to renewables. We all need to work together for the future of the planet. Politicians can no longer bury their heads in the sand or get bogged down in ideological factional warfare over such a critically important issue. The leadership apathy and political ineptitude needs to stop and stop NOW.

11.01.2022 YOUNG PERSON'S VIEW NSW ELECTION Read Justin Chen's blog post on my website: https://www.carolyncorrigan.com.au//message-from-one-young Justin Chen, a local resident, aged 25, and past member of Youth Forum says:... "An independent MP for the North Shore is the only way we can secure a local representative who will actively listen, consult and fight for our interests. The current system where policy positions are dictated by those sitting in Macquarie Street who are more accountable to donors or factional interests just doesn't cut it anymore." See more
09.01.2022 CLEAN UP AUSTRALIA DAY Sunny Sydney Sunday yesterday for 30th annual Clean Up Australia Day 2019. Ken Done and I started bright and early at Spit West Reserve with other volunteers helping to clean up plastic and other rubbish. We have so much natural bushland, parks and sandy beaches we need to care for and protect in the North Shore electorate stretching from Wollstonecraft all the way round Middle Head to The Spit.
09.01.2022 ACTION ON CLIMATE CHANGE If elected to a hung NSW Parliament on 23 March I will demand action on climate change. I will join with other Independent MPs in pushing whichever party wins government to develop and fund a 10-year economic transition strategy for NSW coal mining communities. 08.01.2022 MY CAMPAIGN LAUNCH ENORMOUS ENTHUSIASM AND OPTIMISM! There were so many highlights at last night’s official launch of my campaign to be elected as the Independent MP for North Shore at the NSW election on March 23. And so many people to thank! Laura O'Reilly, the CEO of Fighting Chance - a northern Sydney disability NFP I have keenly supported for many years - did a great job introducing my special guest speakers, all of whom strongly endorsed my candidacy, integrity and v...ery real chance of being elected. 08.01.2022 OVERDEVELOPMENT IMPACTS ROYAL NORTH SHORE Very disturbing statement (read here: https://www.carolyncorrigan.com.au/overdevelopment-impacts-) from the Chair of Royal North Shore Hospital's Medical Staff Council this morning, warning the hospital "will be forced to turn patients away" if the Berejiklian government's plans to massively increase population numbers in St Leonards and Crows Nest proceed. As a Registered Nurse myself, I share Dr Bruce Cooper's deep concern that RNS...H is already at or over capacity, both in its outpatient A&E and inpatient departments - let alone what will happen if thousands of new residents move into the Lower North Shore area without adequate infrastructure planning. Make your vote count at this State election. Vote 1 Carolyn Corrigan. https://www.carolyncorrigan.com.au
08.01.2022 PRE-POLLING STARTS MONDAY 11 MARCH Voting in the NSW election starts at 8am on Monday, with two weeks of pre-polling in the lead up to Saturday 23 March - election day itself. For the electorate of North Shore, there are two pre-polling locations: 1 James Place in North Sydney, and the Harbourside Church in Melrose St, Mosman. The official draw to determine the order of candidates on the North Shore ballot paper was conducted by the NSW Electoral Commission yesterday morning..., and I was thrilled to gain the "sensible centre" spot, right in the middle of the ballot paper - the perfect place for a true Independent! Positive energy for my forward march towards Macquarie Street. See more
07.01.2022 VIBRANT CAMPAIGN! Magic morning at Waverton. Positive responses from commuters in the final few days of our campaign. Lots of thought provoking questions for me and engagement with me on issues affecting the area. For more on my values visit: https://www.carolyncorrigan.com.au/values
04.01.2022 RAISE THE BAR bring back a true moral code to our State Government The revelation in today’s Sydney Morning Herald that a senior NSW Treasury officer heavily involved in the privatisation of the Lands Title Registry was later appointed to a lucrative position by the registry’s new owner is disturbing. 03.01.2022 OVERDEVELOPMENT WE’RE OVER IT! Meeting and speaking to people all around the electorate of North Shore while campaigning to be elected to the NSW Parliament on March 23, discussing and listening to what voters are most concerned about, there’s no doubt one of the biggest issues causing anger and uncertainty in our community is rampant, avaricious, out-of-control overdevelopment. Last Saturday, I spoke at the ‘Stop Overdevelopment’ rally in Crows Nest, organised by the commu...nity action groups Overdevelopment We’re Over It and the Committee for North Sydney. 02.01.2022 VOTE AGAINST OVERDEVELOPMENT Walked with Genia McCaffery through the back streets of Crows Nest and Wollstonecraft sharing our concerns about current plans to further overdevelop the area resulting in increased density and the permanent loss of local amenity, character, history and heritage. Saturday 23 March 2019 provides North Shore voters a golden opportunity to vote NO to overdevelopment. ... Vote 1 Independent Carolyn Corrigan to make your vote your voice.
