24.01.2022 Intermittent fasting has changed my life... It has been one of the best things that I have ever done, not only for my weight but for my brain health and immunity. 09.01.2022 This comment is so true... As humans we are always looking for the quick or easy fix. We literally want to have our cake and eat it to and then be healthy, skinny and no health problems.... But reality doesn't work that way. We need to find a balance and I listened to a podcast recently and the suggestion for a healthy life was very good. The suggestion was to strive for 85-95% of healthy food and living and the rest was for those times when we have celebrations and holidays. I thought this was very balanced and a way we can keep on top of our health. Their are times when we need to be more diligent and it is at those times we need to really go in with 100% commitment to see those real benefits. 09.01.2022 "From the bitterness of disease man learns the sweetness of health." - Catalan Proverb Why is it that so often it takes a terrible illness to shake us out of our apathy about health & then sometimes it still doesn't do that? ... Why are some of us motivated by illness and trying to find a way back to abundant health and others just keep on the same path of destruction? If given the right environment our bodies can heal themselves and that process of moving back to true health can take a while. We spend years abusing and neglecting our health and then when we finally wake up we want those instant results, we want it to happen now! We live in a fast paced world of fast food, not enough time and when we finally get home from a long days work all we want to do is sit in front of the TV or computer and vedge out on what ever fast food that we can lay our hands on. Everything we pretty much buy that comes in a packet is laden with sugar, artificial sweeteners, colours and gluten & quite often doesn't even resemble the food that was picked off the tree or grown in a garden. Most of these foods even have loads of numbers that mean something & it is up to us to google what those numbers are? With all these tempting foods that are sweetened with so much sugar so we become addicted and feel good after we eat them, once we have realised that we have gained 20kg and are feeling no so good, we just can't be bothered to get off the couch to do any form of exercise because we are bloated and tired. I don't know about you, but it is time our world took a second look at all the illness and disease around us and take charge of our own health. Join me today and say 'YES'! 08.01.2022 Over the last week we have had the wonderful opportunity to stop and slow down. I love checking out small towns cooking shops as I always find some wonderful little gems that we don't seem to get in the city. I have been wanting to create small bite sized rectangular Raw desserts and while away I found exactly what I have been searching for. I was so excited to get them and am even more excited to get experimenting with them. ... These silicone moulds have a very firm rim around them which is even better so I don't need to put them on cutting boards in the freezer when I am setting them. I know, getting excited about moulds, but you know what it is actually the lovely new shapes that I will be creating and as I always day... We eat with our eyes first and presentation is 3/4 of getting someone to take notice. Really looking forward to see how cute these look when all completed and decorated up. 05.01.2022 I remember learning this in my younger years when I was trying to lose weight and found it to be so true. If we have to literally get in a car and go to the shop to get the food we know shouldn't be having, it makes it so much less likely that we will actually chose to do that. It is a simple way of helping us make the right choices. ... I know when my boys were younger we had ice creams when we went out instead of having ice cream in our home. They knew they only got an ice cream on special occasions and outings. It also stops the younger ones continually asking for the not so good food if they know it is in the fridge or cupboard. 01.01.2022 I find it rather amusing that people post a picture of ice cubes when they are mentioning plant based eating, I actually laugh as it shows me just how little they really know about healthy eating. Once we have the skills to eat on a plant based diet, it can be one of the healthiest ways to eat. It can actually be the most scrumptious as well. ... I often have people that com to my foodie workshops and comment that they never realised how scrumptious healthy plant based food could be. Continually educating ourselves is the way of self improvement. If you are wanting to make changes in your health or any area of your life for that matter, take the initiative and enrol in a workshop or take a online course. Sometimes when we are wanting to make healthy changes in our lives it can all be over whelming and we don't know quite how to begin. Get a support group around you and learn to experiment. Don't be afraid to invest in you, your health and your learning in that area so you can become proficient. Once those new skills have been mastered then we feel more confident and are less likely to fall back into old ways of eating, living and thinking.
