24.01.2022 Community Owned Farming Opportunity near Canberra Samantha Hawker & Scotty Foster from Co Canberra* write: Caroola Farm is up for sale, Gleanna Meala is up for sale, several other farms are likely to change hands soon. How can we keep our local organic farms producing when the farmers need to move on and potential young farmers cannot afford to buy in? 16.01.2022 Celebrating Caroola Farm - we've been here since 2012 and built a wonderful following of local food lovers, across the spectrum of meat, vegetables, herbs, eggs and preserves... Now it's time for us to go on the road and share our knowledge with others, BUT, before we do, we'd love to see this book come to fruition... Farming Democracy - which looks at 8 different, small scale Australian Farms, why they came to be, how they operate and how they stay viable... To really get to... know this diverse group of farmers and their stories, you'll need to get yourself a copy of #FarmingDemocracy! They are generational farmers and first-timers, some have full control of their supply chains while others have partial, some grow to sell through CSAs and some to support their restaurant... but no matter how they differ the one thing they share in common is a commitment to challenging the existing food system and fight for a new normal in farming that is fair to soil, water, animals, and people. Go beyond the intro, and really get to know what makes these farmers tick by pledging your support to the publication of Farming Democracy and securing your copy of the book today. We have just 48 hours to raise around $3k, very achievable, but not without your support. https://www.pozible.com/project/farming-democracy Your contribution to the campaign is two-fold: First: it goes towards the costs of publishing this important book, which sheds a light on the true costs of farming by giving 8 farmer authors a platform to share their stories. Second: your contribution goes towards the work that the Australian Food Sovereignty Alliance is doing to support the food sovereignty movement Not to mention (depending on your contribution level) it'll also secure you: Your own copy of Farming Democracy Co-Publishing Credit in Farming Democracy Tickets to AFSA's Music Festival - Farm Day Out That warm fuzzy feeling from knowing that you've played a part in challenging the corporate industrialized food system by giving directly to the food sovereignty movement! So what are you waiting for?! Contribute! Like! Share! Viva La Revolucion!! 12.01.2022 Want transparency in the food system? Want transparency in the food system? How about a dose of democracy? Then help AFSA publish Farming Democracy: The True Cost of Farming!... Farming Democracy opens the gates, the books, and the hearts of eight small-scale regenerative farmers from across Australia, sharing just how they grow, process, and sell their produce, and how much it costs them to do so as well as how much they earn for their toil. With stories from Applebox Farm Bellasato Farm Caroola Farm Fat Pig Farm Jonai Farms Fraser OldMill-Road Roly Poly Farm and Woodstock Flour, you'll hear from veg farmers in it for their first year to their 12th, pastured livestock farmers with full or partial value chain control, and the kids of organic grain farmers who are carving out their spot on the farm by milling their own flour and selling it directly. From WA to NSW, Tassie to far north Queensland, this 'underground insurgency' is gaining pace across Australia. We need to raise $24,640 by 13 December 2018 - now you know what to buy your favourite food activist, farmer, or food lover for xmas! And we're excited to announce that one of the rewards is a ticket to the inaugural Farm Day Out at Jonai Farms in March 2019! Join us for a feel great day on the farm listening to the alluring tunes of Freya Josephine Hollick Sean Nicholas McMahon and Sal Kimber & The Rollin' Wheel, while munching on delicious food grown in ethical and ecologically sound ways and served to you by one of a host of great food trucks, accompanied by some local beer, wine, or spirits... Seriously, what are you waiting for? Like, share, and pledge away! Viva la revolución! https://www.pozible.com/project/farming-democracy
