17.01.2022 One of our favourite pieces of equipment is the humble resistance band! A resistance band can be used in many different ways and adapted for different strengths and fitness levels. Theyre small and portable, so great for home, work or even travel! Our physiotherapists can show you exactly how to use a resistance band to target specific muscles, to strengthen or assist in rehabilitation. Theyre a great low impact option and theres less chance of over working the area or causing injury when compared to weights or other gym equipment Can you see why theyre one of our favourites now?!

15.01.2022 What is foam rolling Foam rolling is a self-release technique that allows you to release areas that may otherwise be difficult for you to reach. Foam rolling can be great to relieve muscle tightness and increase range of motion. It's particularly effective in loosening up common areas of tightness including quadriceps, outer thigh and upper back. Gently rolling back and forth will help to release the muscle but for particularly tight spots you may feel that maintaining a ...constant pressure is more effective for muscle release. To find out if foam rolling can help you, book an appointment with one of our friendly physiotherapists! (08) 9258 9385 https://www.carouselphysiotherapy.com.au/book-an-appointme/

10.01.2022 3 Common Causes of Lower Back Pain Poor lifting technique - Remember to bend at the knees, keep your back straight (dont twist!) and hold the load close to your body. If the object is heavy or an awkward shape, get someone to help you lift. Prolonged sitting/standing - change your position frequently to avoid stress on your lower back. We recommend moving around at least every half an hour. Sustained bending forward from the lower back - bending down puts strain on t...he muscles, nerves and ligaments in your lower back and over long periods can lead to damage. Dont live with lower back pain any longer, we can help! Every body is different, so if youre experiencing lower back pain, well work to identify the exact cause of your pain and treat accordingly. 02.01.2022 Piriformis syndrome - when sitting becomes a problem The piriformis is a muscle in your buttock region that helps turn the hip outwards. It also runs very close to the sciatic nerve. If your piriformis is tight, it can cause compression of your sciatic nerve, causing symptoms down your leg. Another theory has suggested that if your piriformis is weak or lengthened, this can also cause sciatic nerve compression. A common symptom with piriformis syndrome is pain with sitting.... Your physiotherapist can treat this with dry needling or massage to release it, or help you strengthen your piriformis if needed. If you think we could help you with your buttock pain, make sure you let us know on 9444 2024! . . . . : https://www.freepik.com//faceless-women-reading_1498145.htm
