19.01.2022 For those of you who sit at your desk often, regular changes to your posture are important. Try this exercise to help shake those poor postures loose, and prevent any muscular strain 1. Stand up, get your into a neutral position and pull your shoulders down. 2. Tuck your elbows in by your ribs and raise your palms to the roof. Forearms should be parallel to the floor.... 3. Keep your core strong (imagine a piece of string pulling you to the ceiling) 4. Keeping your elbows in, squeeze your shoulder blades together as you rotate your palms out to the side. 5. Hold for a few seconds, return arms back to the front. This exercise can be done a few times a day and is a great excuse to get up and move and correct your posture #posture #workergonomics #stretch #strengthening #movementismedicine #myotherapy #correctiveexercise

11.01.2022 LYING LOWER BACK AND THORACIC STRETCH. Great for: Relieving that stiffness feeling... Mobility through your upper and lower spine Stretching glutes, lower back, mid back and chest muscles Creating breathing room 1. Lie on your back with arms out flat at 90 degrees to your body 2. Bend right leg up to about 90 degrees, and move your knee to the left towards the floor. You should feel your hips rotate to the left and a stretch through your glute and lower back. 3. Keeping your knee in position, keeping your arm straight bring your right hand to your left hand, slowly and controlled, and then return your right hand to the floor on your right side. You should feel a stretch through your right chest. 4. Hold for 5 seconds, enough for you to relax and take a deep breath. Repeat step 3 5-10 times. 5. Return to lying position and repeat on left hand Do not force your knee too hard to the floor. This stretch should be performed gently, do not worry if your shoulders lift up slightly or your upper leg doesn't quite reach the floor. #spinalmobility #lowerbackstretch #cheststretch #movemement #myotherapy #exercise

07.01.2022 FOAM ROLL PEC RELEASE! This stretch is a postural stretch that can help loosen the tissues at the front of your chest. If you are sitting with your shoulders rounded this can impact our back, neck and jaw muscles. This exercise may help provide some relief to these structures. You will need a full length foam roller.... 1. Lie on the foam roller so it is length ways along your spine, make sure your head and neck are well supported. 2. Lift both your arms to the ceiling , bend your elbows and bring your arms to the floor, so they are at approx 90 to your body, and lower your hands to the floor above you with palms up (like you're being held up!). You should feel a stretch across your chest. 3. Hold 30 seconds to 1 min. With each breath try to relax your body. Do not arch your back, keep your core strong 4. Return your arms back to center. Repeat step 2, but instead bring arms down to a 45 angle from your body. We are stretching different muscle fibres. 5. Hold 30 seconds to 1 min 6. Bring arms back to centre. Bring arms higher at about a 120 from your body. Again stretching different muscle fibres. 7. 01.01.2022 I love this Happy Cat/Angry Cat stretch I find it helps: Increase my flexibility through my shoulders, neck and lower back. Stretch my chest, lungs, abdomen and glutes Relieve stiffness through my thoracic and lumbar regions. ... 1. Begin on your hands and knees on the floor with hands under shoulders and knees under hips. 2. Round your back, feeling a stretch between your shoulder blades, and hold for 5 seconds. Return to starting position. 3. Relax your stomach, let your belly fall downwards and arch through your lower back (gently) and hold for 5 seconds. 4. Repeat 3-5 times.
