22.01.2022 A very big thank you to Robyn and Maitland Patchwork Quilters, Inc., for donating a beautiful quilt, handmade with love as a tribute to Hannah Clarke and to represent the impact domestic violence continues to have. Thank you also to Mayor Loretta Baker, for linking Robyn with Carrie's Place. #thankyouthursday

22.01.2022 This NAIDOC Week Carrie's Place was able to combine celebration and reflection of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and team wellbeing with a weaving workshop on Wonnarua Country. Thanks to the support from StreetSmart Australia's SmartCare Grants program and Speaking In Colour. https://youtu.be/r_HXcfn53_w #alwayswasalwayswillbe

18.01.2022 Do you know how to say hello in the language of the First Nation you live on? Aboriginal languages are the Australian languages. When you lose language, you lose a worldview. You lose a way of understanding the land on which you are living. You lose an understanding of different philosophies. It makes our lives as human beings a lot poorer if we lose a language if you learn a language, you then get access to that particular way of thinking that ties you back to country-back into the dreaming, the creation, and your ancestors said Mr Muir. The project is calling for community contributors across Australia to help get every Indigenous language on the map. Check out https://50words.online/

17.01.2022 Let’s learn from a 5 year old’s question and her Dad, Brett Johnson’s response Why wherever there is an ‘Australian’ flag flying is there not the flags representing our First Nation’s people also flying? #NAIDOCWeek2020 #alwayswasalwayswillbe

Special thanks to Speaking In Colour and Jamie for her patience, skills and knowledge in facilitating a fabulous cultural weaving workshop that created space for sharing and connection. Our collabor...ative weaving artwork will take pride of place in our office! Shout out to Moz Waters for capturing the memories.
