03.01.2022 Today is Mother's Day here in Australia. I've been doing my mother's shopping since isolation started, and so we are part of the same "iso bubble", which means I'm incredibly fortunate that I get to see her at least once most fortnights. This was her first time on the rooftop with us. Today was for all of Mums, and all those women who may not have children but still give the nurturing and support I was lucky enough to get. Although I completely blame her for me forgetting t...he words of a song I've sung at least 300 times and havg to restart haha Sylvie and I each chose a piece that was a favourite of our mothers'. I had intended to never sing a notably religious song from the rooftop, but this Ave Maria by Gounod means an enormous amount to my Mum, and was a special bond between my grandmother and me. Sylvie chose the sublime Mattinata for her mother. I have included the lyrics to my second piece, Mama, below...the words resonate of the relationship between my Maman and I.
