25.01.2022 We hope that today is indeed a happy Mothers Day, that there is much to celebrate and that Mums feel loved. But we know that its a difficult day for some, that some have lost their Mum or the relationship is broken. Please know youre not alone. To every mother thats lost a son or daughter to suicide, youre in our thoughts today. Wherever today finds you, we want to take this moment to say that were with you, that your life matters, your story matters.... Its OK to not be OK. If things get a little too tough, talk to someone you trust, call Lifeline on 13 11 14 for help or visit our "Find Help" page for helpful links: https://carsforhope.com.au/find-help/
25.01.2022 Today is World Suicide Prevention Day. It is completely unacceptable that we lose 800,000 people to suicide every year. Cars For Hope will continue to invest into the research and prevention of suicide but we dont think its a work only for the experts. We believe theres a part for all of us to play, that perhaps suicide prevention begins in countless simple miracles every single day. Were all invited. Smile at someone, know someone, say something, ask the question, make... the call, take the drive. Every life is priceless and fragile. We get to fight and care, for the people around us. There are plenty of things to fight about and for over the course of our lives lets remember that people are the most important thing and the brightest surprises on the planet. Suicide prevention starts when were willing to talk, willing to ask the hard question, willing to say the honest thing. Maybe the bravest move well ever make it to ask for help. We need to keep talking about the things that people tend to ignore. Lets learn what it means to love people who are hurting and what it means to love ourselves. Lets let go of the past and embrace the possibility that things can get better because were all stories still going. Were not saying that its easy. But were saying that its worth it. Were saying that miracles do turn up, as long as you turn up everyday for those to the left of you, and to the right of you. It is our hope that you will never ever give up. #IAMDRIVEN

24.01.2022 8 years apart and not a lot has changed here. But over the years weve met some amazing people through the car community. A lot of them are our closest friends now. Tag your mates who youve met through cars. Ask them how theyre going. We could all use a bit of a check in during these times. And if things are tough, know that we see you, we hear you and were with you.

23.01.2022 Everyone heals in their own time. Be patient.
22.01.2022 Remember to forgive yourself, and to forgive others. Its too easy to be outraged these days, so much harder to change things, to reach out, to understand. Try to make your time matter: minutes and hours and days and weeks can blow away like dead leaves, with nothing to show but time you spent not quite ever doing things, or time you spent waiting to begin. Meet new people and talk to them. Make new things and show them to people who might enjoy them.... Smile too much. And, when you can, love.
22.01.2022 Its okay to have bad days. They do not erase the progress youve made. Nothing can take away how far youve come.

21.01.2022 You play a role in so many peoples lives. Their stories would not be the same without you.

21.01.2022 "I dont want to get to that point. I dont want to leave my wife and kids that memory of me. So here I am at work typing this because I want to get help but I also want to help others. Cars are my love and it gives me pleasure to be around them and likeminded people. I want to be a part of this movement. I want to help." 21.01.2022 We think this is how we’re supposed to be in the world - present and in awe.

19.01.2022 At the heart of everything we do at Cars For Hope, our goal has always been to move people from a place of shame and isolation to community and from hopelessness to hope. More than anything our ambition is to remind those in need that theyre not alone in the places they feel stuck. During these tough times weve seen some of you doing some amazing things on the frontline, weve seen you drop down for 25 to raise awareness for mental health, weve seen some incredible doors o...pen, things we could not even imagine. To say weve been inspired by your efforts is an understatement. With the Coronavirus having reached pandemic levels and our elders being one of the most vulnerable to the disease, some countries and states have ordered lockdowns which has led to older adults living in long term care facilities to be isolated from their loved ones. Isolation creates feelings of loneliness, which can lead to poorer physical health and quality of life. Physical isolation is important for public health right now, but our elders deserve to feel supported, too. Last week, the team at Cars For Hope and our families each wrote a handwritten letter that will be delivered to an isolated elder in need at a long term care facility. This is our way of embracing our elders during these uncertain times and saying thanks for everything theyve done for us. Our way of saying we see you, we hear you and were with you.

17.01.2022 "Had a tyre failure today and was stuck on the side of a busy street trying to change wheels. Long story short, I was missing a few tools necessary to get it changed but I had a friend come help get it done. About 20 minutes later, the job was finished and we walked to have lunch and laughed it off. Just happens that the CFH sticker was right above where this all happened. Reminded me that I have support from my mates, and to look at the positives around me. Although I was in a crappy spot with the wrong tools, etc, I didn't give up and it was just a nice sunny day too! What this sticker and group is about is so important. This is what drives me."

16.01.2022 10 years ago our friend Annabel believed the lie that she didnt matter anymore. Our hearts are heavy for anyone who has had to deal with anything like we did. The sad truth is that over 65,000 people attempt suicide each year in Australia. That translates to an attempt every 8 minutes. In 2018 we lost 3046 people to suicide, thats 3046 far too many. We created the #IAMDRIVEN World Suicide Prevention Campaign in honour of Annabel with the goal to educate people about suicide..., incite conversations about suicide prevention, and raise funds for mental health research and recovery. This September, we need your help with our campaign, we want to see those numbers change. We believe its possible. We believe it starts with inviting you to consider the things worth living for. Whats your list? What are your reasons to stay alive? What drives you? Weve taken inspiration from your lists over the years and were certain your reasons will help someone else this year. What happened with Annabel changed our lives. There is a good chance you know an Annabel. Maybe you are an Annabel. Either way, you are breathing, living, reading these words and reflecting on the life that led you here. Together we can help people see that there are so many good reasons why you should stay. Find out how you can get involved with #IAMDRIVEN at www.carsforhope.com.au/iamdriven
14.01.2022 As we pause to remember the men and women killed in combat, we choose also to remember the soldiers lost to suicide. To soldiers and to the friends and family of soldiers, we pause to acknowledge you today, to say that you matter. The things you’ve seen, the things you’ve lost, the battles that you fight, the dreams that steal your sleep may we never call them small. And we apologise for the ways that we forget, for the ways that we are selfish, for our lack of understandi...ng. Perhaps the ones who’ve never been there, we can’t begin to comprehend words like war and fight and home. We don’t know what they weigh and what they cost. Today we also acknowledge the higher rate of PTSD in our veteran community. To the ones who fought for peace and freedom, we hope those things for you. We hope for rest and healing, and innocence again. We hope for people who will listen and the strength in you to speak. May other people know you, walk with you in the questions and recovery. May you get the help you need, the help that you deserve. Today, we say that we see you, and not only as a soldier but also as a person. Someone not unlike us. You are significant. You are not forgotten. Finally, humbly, thank you. #RemembranceDay #TodayIRemember

11.01.2022 Introducing UTS Motorsports Electric get up close and you’ll see the many hours of creative design in the chassis, steering, suspension and electric motor departments. There is no doubt that this is an amazing piece of engineering and while this year has been like no other, it’s the big hearts of the talented students behind this car that remained the same and that’s what we’re most proud of. If 2020 has taught us anything, it’s the important of connection. At times, we’v...e needed to stay physically apart, and as the world around us has changed the fundamental need for connection has seen the UTS Motorsports team come together in other ways as they continued to march towards their Formula-SAE Competition goals. Meet UTSME: Bianca.

05.01.2022 This month marks 9 years of Cars For Hope. There have been some remarkable things that have happened along this journey to drive the end of mental health stigma, but Id like to share this story. This is me at 19 at a THE-LOWDOWN.com car meet on the rooftop of Fox Studios in Sydney with my friends Amy and Marija. In the distance I hear a man ask So whats the deal with this? Whats Cars For Hope? As I turned around to answer his question a complete stranger had jumped in an...d started explaining our story to the man. He said we were a group of car guys raising awareness for depression, anxiety and suicide prevention throughout the car community. For those struggling, its a safe place to talk about their experiences. And I loved that he used the phrase a safe place because thats exactly what were all about. No matter how big or small your challenges were and despite what the world thinks or what your mind is saying about it, our message was and always will be, that they matter. More than ever we seem to have mental health at the forefront of our minds with the pandemic were currently living through. What Ive noticed lately is how my friends speak to each other. They say things like I knew you would understand and I just know I could tell you that and youd be cool with it. It really hit me because, there it is again, its that safe place. We didnt invent hope or help or community, or the idea that every person has a story and every story matters, but its been incredibly humbling to see people respond to those ideas. Its been so amazing to see those ideas begin to touch and move and change people. I cant stress enough, that this charity organisation only exists and is only made possible thanks to all of the car clubs, partners, volunteers and the thousands of supporters across the globe that believe in our story. Our combined efforts will inspire life-saving conversations, challenge stigma and we will continue to connect people to the help that they need and deserve. If youve contributed in any way, shape or form to the Cars For Hope family. Please take a step back today and really soak it in. Because of you, we get to hear from those sitting across of a counsellor for the first time or someone in a desperate moment who picks up the phone to dial 13 11 14 for Lifeline Crisis Support. People literally choosing to stay alive. Weve seen some incredible doors open, things that we could not even imagine. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. Keep safe, Berty
