24.01.2022 A reminder of what Carss Park Pool means to the community. We await Council to get on with the job of producing the Site Suitability & Feasibility Study to confirm the site's suitability to accommodate an aquatic centre, that was first called for by Councillor Sam Elmir in April 2018.
24.01.2022 The Kogarah War Memorial Pool has been an important institution in the St George region since it was dedicated in 1966 as a memorial to the Australians who had ...served our country in war. Sadly, at a recent meeting on the 25th of May, and again when the motion was reconsidered earlier this week, Georges River Council chose to disregard the important history of this pool and its benefits to our community by resolving to destroy it without any real regard to the consequences. I spoke in Parliament yesterday to demand that Georges River Council immediately reverses their decision and proceeds with the refurbishment or rebuilding of the War Memorial Pool at Carss Park.

06.01.2022 Media Release - Tuesday 23 July 2019 Closure of Kogarah War Memorial Pool (Carss Park Pool) Georges River Council today announced the closure of the Kogarah War Memorial Pool.... Recently, the pool was closed for winter maintenance, however following a direction from the NSW Environment Protection Authority (EPA) in relation to urgent environmental concerns, Council has taken immediate action to close the pool to prevent further pollution into the Georges River. The pool will not reopen on 4 August 2019 as previously advised. Council has worked with the NSW EPA, an independent statutory authority, to identify the source of polluted water. It is now confirmed that pollution of the river is occurring as a direct result of leaks due to the pools age, deteriorated condition and ground subsidence. To prevent any further detrimental effect to our local waterways the pools will immediately be drained of water. A public information session on the action that the Council has taken will be held on Monday 29 July 2019 at Georges River Civic Centre, Dragon Room, Corner MacMahon and Dora Streets, Hurstville from 7.00pm-8.00pm. All community members are welcome to attend. To register your attendance to this information session visit www.georgesriver.nsw.gov.au or for more information contact Council on 9330 6400.

04.01.2022 Swimming Australia has appointed well respected and experienced management consultants SBP (Sport Business Partners) to conduct a study on the broader social and community benefits of competitive and social swimming. This study specifically seeks to explore a range of social capital indicators used by the Australian Bureau of Statistics, and to understand the differences between swimmers and the general population on these indicators. The results from the research will be use...d to demonstrate to Government and other key stakeholders the contribution swimming makes in the community, and to assist with growing investment in our sport. As a valued member of the Australian Swimming Community we welcome you to participate in this survey. The survey will take approximately 15-20 minutes to complete and we ask that you please submit your response by 5pm Thursday 19 th December. As a thank you for completing this survey you will have the opportunity to win an arena pack. To begin the survey please click here: Start Survey Please note that at no stage will your contact details or individual comments be used for any purposes other than reporting on this research.
