While there is no single definition for Natural wine, we choose to define the wines we serve as such: intensional intervention. Few growers dont intervene at all, but we look for wines that are a marriage of what the land provides, and the personal expression of the winemaker. 22.01.2022 Just because we love to talk about wine and coffee comparisons from this account, doesnt mean we cant indulge a bit of brew geekery. We recently received stock of some @deltercoffee presses, and have to say we are thoroughly impressed. One of the biggest barriers to coffee accessibility is brewing, as there is rarely no simple method with which to make great coffee at home without much equipment. Even the Aero-Press as the overall gold standard of easy DIY brewing still too...k some level of immersion, scales and timing. However the Delter press seems to have taken so much into account, even the little cap with which they use to weigh, only has maybe a 1g difference even with different origins (we are talking for easy home and travel Brews, not Brewers cup before anyone jumps on me) that ease of use plus what seems to be a resistance based bloom period leaves a brewer that takes almost no technical skill to brew an amazing cup of coffee. It takes it one step closer to wine by removing the barriers between the end user and a tasty coffee. We are Open normal hours today and tomorrow (cup day) well be open 8am-2ish (could go later if yall are hanging out) Nextly lets talk clean, crispy, dry acidity. 2 wines weve come to love here are from different producers in Western Australia Dormilona Chenin Blanc and Vino Volta Sparkling Chenin Blanc. These wines are amazing because they remind me of the best examples of washed coffees. Clean, citrus fruits, sherbert, and easy drinkability. Both Chenins exhibi...t great citrus fruits, with a wonderfully dry long finish. It would pair amazingly with the Surma lot 80 from Gesha Village which exhibits a similar sparkling acidity, tropical fruits and a clean finish. Chenin has its origins in the Loire Valley and despite being a cool climate wine in France, it thrives rather well in the warmer Mediterranean climate of West Australia. Meanwhile Gesha Village is literally the origin of the Gesha varietal with the Surma village being host to the original 1931 Gesha. Jean Ginglingers family has been involved in wine both when the area was German, and French. Theyve been Biodynamic since 2001. Excellent extremely different coffee at an amazing price point of $10 per serve or $40 per bag from the legends @cofi_net. This coffee is one of the cleanest coffees we've ever had the privilege of tasting with regards to its very targeted and intentional processing. Anaerobic ferment for 48hrs with mandarin peels le...aves a very pure citrus orange with vanilla and a crisp mouth feel. We have only been recently scratching the surface of coffee's potential but this one definitely goes a little deeper. Available in Melbourne and both our Geelong stores. Limited quantities available.
