10.01.2022 Yesterday we held our annual School Chess Championship with 200 keen young Chess Stars choosing to do what they enjoy to do in the Hall in very warm conditions!... All the children had a great time... congratulations to the approximately 45 Year 2 students who put up their hand to play in a tournament for the first time! Prize winners on the day were: Top Year 2 - Maggie W 6/8 Top Year 3 - Hunter BM 6.5/8 Top Year 4 - Chloe G 6/8 Top Year 5 - Darren S 7/8 Top Year 6 - Skye C 7/8 3rd place - Kayden L. 7/8 2nd place - Benjamin P 7/8 1st place - Jason L 8/8 Many thanks to Ted Carter from CartersChess in Toowoomba who came down to assist on the day and to Andrew, Shaun and Kyla from GardinerChess who provided the Chess admin on the day. 01.01.2022 A final wrap of the 2020 State Finals! The final round saw the Fernvale ChessStars rediscover their finest form and they cruised to a 4-0 win over Kings College... Pimpama. All the children played well and fully deserved their result. Fernvale finished on 13.5/24... which gained them 8th place! Congratulations to Jason, Darren, Benjamin and Abbie for a fine result! A special shout to our Board 1 player Jason who scored a perfect 6/6 (the only Primary player to do so) and deservedly won the Board Prize for Board 1! We will hopefully be back in 2021! See more
