25.01.2022 After the fires, life springs from the ground. Pictures from the last back burn before the fire reached Cascade....phew.... 400 or so mm of rain helps!
24.01.2022 Today and every day at Cascade we respectfully acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land we work on. The Gumbaynggirr people have cared for this land and its waterways for countless years. We pay our respect to elders past, present and emerging. This is, was and always will be Gumbaynggirr land. #InThisTogether2020 #NRW2020
24.01.2022 The National Marine Science Centre was proud to host the Youth Environmental Council forum last Friday. In coordination with the Cascade Environmental Educatio...n Centre, 47 student representatives from 10 Primary Schools came together to present the environmental projects happening at their schools. This was followed by a tour of the Solitary Islands Aquarium and a presentation and lab activity about #marinedebris by our Outreach and Education Manager, Stephan Soule. From waste management to vegie gardens, our Coffs Coast schools are doing an amazing job looking after the #environment through imaginative and practical methods! See more

17.01.2022 Cascade EEC update as of 21/11/19 Back burns have continued around Cascade as the weather has been favourable. As the map shows, at this point the fire is about 1-3 km from Cascade EEC. Lets hope the winds and weather stay good for us. Despite it being incredibly smokey we have been on site at the EEC. We are still unable to conduct programs at this stage, but are working on some new incursions so we can keep delivering our great programs to schools. We are still watering our gardens and even rescued a Perons tree frog from the loo! Thanks RFS, SFNSW and all involved through this time.
16.01.2022 A great week in the outback teaching wonderful students!
16.01.2022 Cascade update. The fires around Cascade are still ticking away, nowhere near out. Currently one fire is under 8km away another is about 10. The fire breaks are about 3-4km from Cascade. There are firebreaks being placed around the village by State Forests. Apparently a backburn is planned if conditions are favorable. Amazing work being done. We have been watering the grounds and gardens all day with our precious tank water, but you need to do what is required. Unfortunately ...we have had to postpone all programs here until the danger is passed. Our lizards and snake are safe off site. All residents of Cascade have been evacuated and we will be going very soon. Fingers crossed conditions dont deteriorate over the weekend. Hope everyone is safe and has a plan if needed. See more

14.01.2022 Day trips to EECs are currently permitted. Get in touch and lets have a great day!
14.01.2022 Cascade EEC is non-operational tomorrow. This is due to an extreme fire danger. The forest is so dry. Mororo Creek has all but stopped flowing. This event has not occurred in my memory of Cascade. I have heard there were fires here about 17 years ago.... Heres hoping that the Cascade village will be safe and the school is spared so that we can continue to educate the thousands of students each year on our connection to and place in the environment. https://www.facebook.com/118142061538216/posts/3084102344942158?sfns=mo
