25.01.2022 Hi all please read the latest from Tri Vic. https://www.facebook.com/143121855770371/posts/3465229106892946/?d=n&substory_index=0

24.01.2022 Meet Gihan our May Athlete in Profile In our monthly ‘Athlete in Profile’ series we caught up with CCTS Member athlete, Gihan, to find out more about his motivations and aspirations. Which of the Triathlon Australia values do you most relate to and why? Belonging, enjoyment and health respectively.... When I left Sri Lanka 18 months ago I had too much excess baggage of body weight, stress and had no idea what I will face in this new country. I was completely lost as to what to do and how to start over and was looking to get involved in some community activity to help me to settle and meet people. Accidentally I came across CCTS on a Google search and after a short phone call, over 45minutes with we all know who, I became an addict to triathlon and the CCTS/Tri community. What is your greatest achievement? Belonging to a beautiful community of like-minded athletes would be the best achievement anyone could wish. Losing 15kg and shaving 2hrs off my Tin Man timing in the process was the icing on the cake What is your dream? Kona!!! To cross the finish line at Kona one day, maybe my 60th Birthday as it’s a long way to go but one step at a time I’m moving forward.

21.01.2022 Hi all Respect Women: Call It Out Respect is the building block of all healthy relationships. Respect is offered, exchanged and received in the places we spend our time: homes, schools, workplaces, sporting clubs and more. Respect is a word most people are familiar with, and yet it can be challenging to pinpoint exactly how it can and should be spread. ... Violence against women and girls is a devastating act of disrespect and the most pervasive breach of human rights worldwide. Gender inequality is one of the key drivers of violence against women and is deeply embedded in many facets of life. Please call it out ! https://www.respectvictoria.vic.gov.au//respect-women-call

20.01.2022 Meet Andrea our December Athlete in Profile In our monthly ‘Athlete in Profile’ series we caught up with CCTS Member athlete, Andrea, to find out more about her motivations and who inspires her. Which of the Triathlon Australia values do you most relate to ? I relate to Courage, a previous TA value. When life gets hard, and it always does, it’s courage that helps us to know that these times will pass. Having strength in times of pain is an incredibly hard thing to do, but... with courage you know that you will make it through. What is your greatest achievement? Learning and practicing mindfulness and kindness and understanding how it is actually a critical social skill. Who inspires you? All those people that get back up when knocked down, dust themselves off and keep going. What are your goals? Pursue better health and fitness, become a part of something greater and help change the way forward for the next generation. Show my kids that better health through fitness doesn’t need to be filled with stress and pressure.

What do you enjoy about triathlon? I started triathlons in 2016 and enjoy the Gatorade / 2XU Series, as well as cycling and open water swim events like Portsea Gold and Pier to Perignon. I rode a stage of the Tour Down Under with my brother in 2019. I look forward to riding the next Amy Gillet Gran Fondo with my son James, and while my daughter Clare has focused on her studies in Year 12, James is now faster than me in everything Who inspires you? 11.01.2022 Meet Meg our June Athlete in Profile Which of the Triathlon Australia values do you most relate to and why? ACHIEVEMENT. Though I had taken swimming lessons before joining CCTS, I could barely float in water. Dad insisted I join CCTS, I agreed reluctantly as I was worried people would make fun of me. CCTS looked too professional and athletic for a beginner like me. Charlie & Helen made me feel very comfortable and were encouraging me continuously. Their faith in me made me... put more effort into learning and trying harder. I remember waking my dad as early as 4am to go train with Helen. I was that excited to swim. Water makes me feel very calm. First Triathlon was a disaster. Swimming in sea was new. I was terrified. I managed to come 5th place in my second attempt. I realised hard work really pays off. I am looking forward to participate in more and more. What is your greatest achievement? My greatest achievement so far is to have made it to the school swimming team and won a place in inter school competitions. I am recognised as a good swimmer now. What is your dream? I want to stand on the podium and receive a medal. I have got multiple ribbons for competitive sport but never a medal. I want to win for both Triathlon and Competitive swimming

11.01.2022 2020 has been a year of change but with 2020 vision comes growth and opportunity! https://www.facebook.com/134712696593275/posts/3561142047283639/?d=n

09.01.2022 Meet James our August Athlete in Profile In our monthly ‘Athlete in Profile’ series we caught up with CCTS Member athlete, James, to find out more about his motivations and aspirations. Which of the Triathlon Australia values do you most relate to ?... Achievement. What is your greatest achievement? My greatest achievement is winning the U15 Male Short Course Category in the 2019 Rapid Ascent Trail Running Series. What is your dream? My dream is to complete an Ironman triathlon. Who inspires you? One of my biggest inspirations is Mo Farah who runs long distance for Britain. I also enjoyed racing in the same wave start as the Elite categories in last season’s 2XU Series.

09.01.2022 Great advice ! https://www.facebook.com/143121855770371/posts/2892519537497242/?d=n&substory_index=0

07.01.2022 Meet Kelly our July Athlete in Profile In our monthly ‘Athlete in Profile’ series we caught up with CCTS Member athlete, Kelly, to find out more about her motivations and aspirations. Which of the Triathlon Australia values do you most relate to and why? Integrity. Which means being honest and having strong moral principles. I believe if you live with integrity then you will be happy within, will achieve more and be a respected person. Staying true to yourself will lead ...to a healthy and enjoyable life. I live my life by this value every day of my life. What is your greatest achievement? Swimming in the ocean was my greatest achievement as I had a fear of going in the water past my knees. I was with my coach, Helen, at the beach on a freezing, windy, rainy day and the waves were massive. I was not keen on getting in but with Helen’s support I managed to put my head under the water and swim!! The next week was my very first triathlon. I was so scared, but with Helen’s support and encouragement, I completed not only the swim but the ride and the run. Who would have thought. Certainly not me. What is your dream? My dream is to compete and finish a half Iron-Man 70.3.

I have had some success participating in the kids series and looking forward to proving... myself at the longer distances this season. What is your greatest achievement? Medalling at the Victorian State Titles for Surf Life Saving for the last three years. I look forward to working hard and achieving success in triathlon with CCTS. Who inspires you? First fell in love with triathlon watching the Commonwealth Games. I most admire Jacob Birtwhistle and dream of one day competing for Australia.

02.01.2022 Meet Hannah our November Athlete in Profile In our monthly ‘Athlete in Profile’ series we caught up with CCTS Member athlete, Hannah, to find out more about her motivations and who inspires her. Which of the Triathlon Australia values do you most relate to ? Although all of the current Triathlon Australia core brand values are important (Health, Enjoyment, Belonging, Achievement, Integrity, Respect) I focus on Courage, a previous TA value. Courage to get out of your comfo...rt zone, courage to form new friendships, courage to be open to different ideas and to keep learning and growing. In essence, I believe it takes massive courage to Tri. What is your greatest achievement? Remaining steady, with calm anticipation for whatever is still to come. Who inspires you? Kate McIlroy, NZ triathlete. She has competed in multiple Commonwealth Games in multiple disciplines, and overcame serious injury to keep competing at an international level by adapting to become a cycling specialist. She’s also an absolute basket case with massive energy, who I was fortunate enough to meet while carrying out nutrition analysis for the NZTri team during my university years. I enjoy crazy ideas and crazy humans! What's your dream? What, just one?!

01.01.2022 Meet Skye our April 'Athlete in Profile' We caught up with CCTS Member athlete Skye and asked her a few questions... Which of the Triathlon Australia values to you most relate to and why?... Probably respect and integrity, as I think they both go together. I’m always inspired by the range of athletes the sport welcomes and it’s inclusiveness. I believe that as long as you give it your all and are having fun, you will achieve the results you aspire towards. What is your greatest achievement ? My greatest achievement is probably leaving my old life in England and creating a new one in Australia, finding new things that I now love. What is your dream? A dream I have is to one day represent Australia, as just before we left England my teacher gave me an Australia shirt she swapped with a player when she represented Great Britain for rugby. She told me she wanted one back one day when it was my turn to wear the green and gold.
