02.01.2022 Some parents have been asking how the classes will run: We will be focusing on our body as a musical instrument for the first few weeks - working on rhythm through clapping, slapping, clicking etc. and using our voices to accompany in a call and response type activity. This will then be the building blocks to learn songs and incorporate percussion instruments in the later weeks. ... In each class we will listen to a different type of music from around the world (eg. india, africa, china, ireland etc) and try and 'feel' the character of each of these styles exploring how they may be different or similar to each other. By the end of the ten weeks kids should be able to sing/play some songs together as well as have a good understanding of rhythm, melody, character and dynamics. If term 1 goes well and kids want to continue we can start introducing instruments for term 2. Can't wait!
