13.01.2022 We are saddened to hear of the passing of Czech director Jií Menzel. Over the years CaSFFA has screened a number of Menzel's films including Cutting it Short (Postižiny, CaSFFA 2016), Pearls of the Deep (Perliky na dn, CaSFFA 2016), and Closely Watched Trains (Oste sledované vlaky, CaSFFA 2014) which won the 1967 Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.

09.01.2022 The Aussie & Kiwi Film Fest in conjunction with Ponrepo cinema will hold a charity screening of the Australian movie Charlie's Country to raise money for organisations working to protect endangered species and wildlife in Australia which have been affected by the bushfires that have devastated large parts of the country since September 2019. Monies raised from admission tickets will be donated to the Helping them survive public appeal which has been launched by the Zoo Prah...a. All monies raised in this appeal will then be passed on by the Zoo to the Bushfire Emergency Wildlife Fund, which will distribute funds to aid organisations working in the affected areas. Fundraising (from 150,-) will be only on 10th February in the cinema Ponrepo from 4:30pm. From 5:15 pm you can purchase wines from festival partner Foltyn Wine - money will be also donated to Emergency Wildlife Fund.

"Every year, the Prague IFF Febiofest bestows the prestigious Kristián award on a number of eminent Czech and international artists for their lifetime contribution to cinema. This year, in connection with the introduction of a new section called Comedy Competition, the festival has decided to honour Iva Janžurová, an actress popular for many comedy roles. Screenings of the films Morgiana, Boarding House for Bachelors and Ene Bene will remind festival viewers of the work of this major figure in Czech film, who has been in front of the camera for almost 60 years.
