14.01.2022 The Bush Fire Danger Period (BFDP) will commence tomorrow (1 September 2020) in 21 local government areas. This means land owners and land managers in these are...as must now obtain a free Fire Permit from their local fire authority before lighting any fires, including hazard reduction burns. Even if you’ve been using fire for many years, safe burning is your responsibility. Contact your local Fire Control Centre to obtain your free Fire Permit and follow its conditions. Heavy fines apply for the unsafe use of fire or if your fire escapes. Don’t be the fire risk to your community. Use fire safely. For further information about the BFDP and Fire Permits, go to www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/fire-information/BFDP

13.01.2022 The Salvation Army Northern Rivers Red Shield "Digital Doorknock" has gone live locally. The link to our fundraising Portal is - https://digitaldoorknock.salva...tionarmy.org.au/t/northern-ri This morning, I joined the launch, albeit a bit late. Simon Gregory was the convenor. Rowan Johnstone Salvation Army Relationship Manager spoke beautifully and showed a short video of someone who was broken with drugs but now healed, who said it is easy to become a father but hard to be a Dad and he is now and doing well. Thank you to both Andrew Gordon (Lismore Committee) and John Murray (Tweed Valley Committee) for hosting this ZOOM event. Also, thank you to Murwillumbah District Business Chamber for supporting it. This year, I wanted to join our wonderful band of volunteers going door to door, but did it with my hands instead. Much is asked of you right now and if you can spare a bit please do for this most charitable of charities, led locally by the wonderful Captain Philip Sutcliffe. Locally the Red Shield Appeal funds is one of the main sources of income that funds all the Christmas Assistance provided to the community. They are preparing for a greater surge in community members needing our assistance come Christmas time this year.
