16.01.2022 We are a bit quieter on socials lately but super busy behind the scenes painting and creating and thinking of lots of new ways to do things. Just before lockdown I was finally finding my stride post baby brain (is very real!) and getting motivation back for my work! Then you know hello pandemic... and weeks glued to the news. Now we are back into the swing of life but this year is going to look a little different at VH Cant wait to share with you all what we have been working on cause there are lots of exciting things!!! 11.01.2022 Painting the Basalt print Thanks so much for all your poster orders over the past few weeks. It looks we have a lot of champagne taste on a beer budget kinda ladies out there. That is the slogan for my life if it was a movie. This year I wanted to focus a bit more on my painting. Im currently working (oh so slowly) on my second solo show for next year and a few fine art prints. The posters though, they were important to me to offe...r art that is affordable but also really considered and loved and special. Also that makes a big impact and visitors are like wow you have very fine taste and you both nod to each other in agreement. 08.01.2022 Order Update (from our Classics Drop One launch last Wednesday)@ktcollins__ Does anyone else just have this urge to just hide away when they get a tad overwhelmed? Well yep, thats me! Since we launched our first drop of classics Wednesday night we have been working around the clock to get these out to everyone as soon as we can. It was kind of terrifying the next morning to realise how we were possibly going to pack all these orders - especially with our ske...leton crew and strict one person rule in the shop. But... hurrah we have done it! All orders from Wednesday night have left the building! As I started to work through the orders I couldnt help but feel incredibly grateful for this amount of overwhelming support. Not having packed orders in yonks, I loved seeing so many familiar names and printing them on our fancy label printer - not handwriting them like I used to. Its been an emotional few days.ok make that year, but seriously it wasnt that long ago we were closing the shop and our design market bookings cancelled, thinking it was really all over. To think we just had our biggest trading day ever blows my mind. 2020 you SO confusing But seriously you guys THANK YOU! Jess will be back in Thursday to pack the remaining orders from the rest of last week and cross checking everything. Most orders have left with Sendle who are a faster carrier at the moment. All PO boxes, parcel lockers and rural addresses have been sent with Australia Post who are experiencing some delays out of Melbourne. (We will be keeping a close eye on tracking over the next week to make sure parcels are moving. Please give us a few days before contacting as it might take a bit for scans to register on your tracking link.) 06.01.2022 Sometimes the stars align and magic like this happens Our new 'Picnic' collection drops this Wednesday 8pm AEDT and in store from Thursday! 18 new pieces + our new Market Bag & Sun-hats Shot by @ryanwheatley at Ripponlea Estate. ... We wanted to find a place to celebrate our new prints with elaborate scenes and feelings of freedom. When we visited we knew we had to shoot here. It would seriously have to be one of the most heavenly places in Melbourne, especially for a Picnic. This photo was the last taken on the day. It was HOT and we had not stopped since 6am and I think it encapsulates the collection perfectly. 04.01.2022 Thanks for visiting our store over the past week. We opened last Friday and I couldn't believe when someone actually came in to see us. I think I asked her a few times like did you just come in specifically to actually come to our store? This was after we gave her a parade and kept yelling YOU'RE THE FIRST ONE!!!! Then more people just kept coming in. Then people actually wanted to buy stuff. It's like I forgot the concept of a store. Then seeing people try things on woah our... minds exploded. Jess said she has spoken to more people this week then she has all year. I keep asking her if she is ok or if she needs a few days alone in a dark room to process all this social interaction. 03.01.2022 At the start of this year when planning we decided to spice it up with a bit of what I first set out when starting Variety Hour in 2016. Also because I get asked approximately 1 billion times a week when are doing homewares?!?!? I started VH with clothing, home and art hence the name variety. Bit of trivia for you aye. Clothing took over because well I think it has to because its ridiculously challenging!!!! And I needed to give it my all to learn the ropes. Now we feeling confident with our fashion know how and ready to start exploring homewares. We going to take things slowly and only work on introducing products we truely believe in and love. The current cycle of oversupply, constant sales and fast fashion doesnt benefit anyone and is changing our relationship with our clothes for the worst. "Our inspiration doesnt come from trends, but from genuine moments and feelings that inspire my creative process at different times in my life.
